I haven't been able to drive one yet but got a ride in a TRX. This year at Mecum they had a small off road course set up and were giving free rides. Just in that short distance you could feel the hp/tq and it put you flat back into your seat.

That is a pretty cool thing that Dodge does. They usually have a fleet of Hell Cats and Chargers at the Mecum Auctions. Free rides on a drifting course and a T shirt. Even a dedicated Ford guy like me con appreciate that, and even wear the shirt occasionally.

Unfortunately the heydays of ICE powered Pony and muscle cars is in the past. I know that the electric cars can be performance vehicles but it is just not the same experience as a big V8 fire breathing monster motor. May the Hemi rest in peace.

I was told by the dealer that all SRT vehicles had to be serviced at the dealership for the first 2500, 5000 and 10k miles. They also asked me if I had a a tune in the car or ANY non mopar parts installed.

I’m glad I don’t have that POS anymore if just simply for the way the dealer/manufacture treats owners of SRT vehicles. And don’t get me started on EXTREME depreciation.

Why did your oil change have to be performed by the dealer? Was it for warranty purposes? The Magnuson-Moss act makes this illegal.

They had the Challengers there too right next to this course. The first time we did it back in 2019 the one I was in had a mount for your phone so you could video it. This years didn't but it's still a fun ride even though it's a short course.

I've got the same t shirt. lol ?

And with it, goes the greatest advertising slogan of all time:

"Yeah, It’s Got a Hemi!"

(Soon to be replaced with, "Nope, not anymore!")
As much as I'm not a fan of Dodge/Mercedes/Fiat/Stellantis (or whoever owns them this week) , I have to give them props for good marketing on the "hemi" thing. Hell, even the 1981 Ford Escort was technically a hemi....lol

This right here says it all

"Replacing the Hemi V8 will be the GME T6 or the Global Medium Engine Turbocharged 6, a name which just rolls off the tongue. It will be used for all Stellantis Global medium platform models"

I guess the next gen kids will be like
Kid 1: Did you hear the wine of that EM, that thing made my ears ring
Kid 2: Dude, its all about the tire to asphalt sound.
Kid 3: Dont forget the soothing wind sounds
Dad: WTF go back into the house and play games!

Also beefing up your car will be all about electronic timing, software and Electric Motor rebuilds.
They will be easier too work on and cleaner for the most part.

Kid: I just had my EM rewound, I upped the circular mills and dropped 7 turns from the coils. Used fiberglass insulation and fire proof insulators. Then dipped and baked it 4 times in varnish.

Creating water jackets in the stator for cooling and maybe small radiators to help.
Im thinking of 2 and 3 speed EMs myself. This is super old tech that has made small shops a good living for decades, now the demand will be alot higher for this knowledge. Although, car companies will just have a machine to pump out cores.

Invest in copper!

I hear alot of folks poo pooing on the straight six. and also alot of defense of them.

My dads first F100 had a 3 speed column shift (I hate the "three on the tree" moniker lol) and a 300 straight six. That engine was ridiculous when it came to reliability and lack of needed maintenance.

I've seen some mention the BMW and MOPAR 6 cylinders and both are awesome. I think, electrics aside, the Jag 4.2 bears mentioning here as well.

And of course you can't discount the 1JZ/2JZ engines from Toyota, the Nissan RB and L series 6 cylinder engines and of course, since this IS a Ford site, the awesome Aussie Barra engines.

If you want to see what is really possible with a 6, go search on youtube for "Barra Cresta" or "Barra Mustang". Hot Rod drag week had those two aussie prepped cars and they were crazy.
Mike Finnegan of Roadkill took a charger and put a JZ in that. Its another silly fun car.

I've been crunching numbers and it would be relatively inexpensive (compared to a new car purchase) to find an old 1972 or so Ford Maverick or Mercury Comet and put a mild Barra in there.

Do I love V8 engines? Of course. But I also know that there are always different paths to the same destination.

The sound of an American V8 through flow masters (or what ever you like) is iconic but sometimes it's nice to surprise someone with a sleeper fast car with something totally different providing the power.

I also believe in giving people choices. If I want a fuel thirsty sweet sounding V8 an enough other people want them companies will build them. A large segment of the population an government in the US are now about denying people choices THEY don't approve of. That's what bothers me the most....a lot of these changes are being driven by the market (people's choices) but by policies forced on the companies by Big Government.

Not really. That's the whole point of the name. You can drive it easy and keep out of the boost and return fairly good fuel mileage. Or you can flog on it, let the turbo spool up, and have fun.
