There's really no comparison though it there. :) Those of us who grew up listening to that V8 growl still love and miss it. I wouldn't pay $80K+ for it but I do miss it.
Indeed. I'm happy enough with the 2.3, but would have taken a 6 or 8 had they squeezed either in there. There is no replacement for displacement :)

The only thing that sounds better than a big 8, is a big diesel 8 under heavy load.

I'm totally with you! I had a Ford Coyote 5.0 V8 on my F150. It has a flat plain crankshaft, and it is one of the best sounding V8's ever! I love it at idle all the way to redline. The loveliest sound.

While I love my Ranger's Ecoboost 4, at idle it sounds weak. At WOT it sounds good. That could be the artificial sweetener coming from the speakers though.

Coyotes have a traditional crank not a flat-plane. The voodoo in the gt350 has the flat plane crank just fyi. unless you modified your 5.0 to have a flat plane crank in which case, i stand corrected. The coyote does sound amazing regardless:fistbump:

I'm pretty sure the rumored mini-Godzilla from Ford ain't gonna happen now either.

There goes my plan to get the last best V8 in a Mustang in a few years. Maybe I'll buy my boss's 600whp blown 'yote if he's ready to sell by then.

I'm disappointed. I was so looking forward to them stuffing one in a mini van. ?

I have a Charger with the 5.7 and had a Challenger too. Nice motors. On the Van....you can get a Durango with a 5.7 even a Hellcat motor. But...this was of no surprise. With mileage restrictions and Government mandates on the auto industry, I doubt we see many V-8's moving forward. The turbo boosted 4 and 6's put out a lot of hp and torque anyways.

I guess if the biggest appeal was speed, i think EVs will surpass NA gas engines within a decade as far as performance. But if you loved it for the sound….. ughh get used to fake noises haha.

The 225 Slant 6 was almost indestructible.
Well almost. I bought '74 Duster with a slant 6 with a thrown rod for cheap in high school. Swapped it out and drove it for quite a while.

This is actually an interesting move--an inline 6 is a much more sensible engine for RWD applications than a V6. I wish Ford would make one for this market.

I don't know, I used to love the sound of a 540ci opposing 6 on a Piper airplane. They didn't have much of a muffler. I had to crawl under one running to work on it one time. Nearly gave me an erection.

Oh my god I can just hear the silence from all the GM and Fiat fanboys who been dogging Ecoboost all these years. Now they will have to embrace it but Ford is 10+ years ahead.

Found this diagram of it, the arrangement makes sense for the twin turbos.

Okay, not the only thing, but one of very few that you'll ever hear from a road vehicle. V10, and V12 can make some incredible sounds too.
