Ive had it since March 2022. Today on the way to work I got rear ended. I was stopped on an on ramp to the highway due to traffic. Lady behind me wasn't paying attention she tried to swerve but still got me. I think the hitch step helped deflect a good amount. She missed the tailgate and tail light but bent the step hit the bumper and just under the tail light. Oh the joy to come getting it fixed.

Tough break Kevin, I hope you’re able to get it repaired quickly and they don’t need to have your truck in body shop jail for too long.

Sucks all around.
But on the bright side, a friend who has a brand new Bronco, who off-roads it every weekend has more damage than that from self inflicted obstacles/connections. He's had it for 6 weeks.

I reckon if you buy them to play with like that, damage needs to be expected.

Yes, he didnt buy it for a pavement princess.
He bought it to explore further down the trails than he has ever gone.
I fully expect it to look like a wreck after a year and he doesn't care, he's happy.
Other than some added protection film, he barely even washes it because the next weekend, he's back out there hurling it across some rocks and river crossings up the side of another mountain.

That's awesome.
I bet he can't wipe the smile off, and that's a very good thing!

Thank your lucky "Stars", @OFC Ranger...?

Seriously, that's the very reason I have one similar to yours...

Either I’m bad at math, or my calendar is broken…

That stinks! As long as everybody gets to walk away, it will be okay. I wonder what rental vehicle you will get to beat on for a couple weeks?

Sorry to hear but at least you weren't injured. Also lucky that the taillight was spared, if it has BLISS they're about $1,000/each. Hopefully parts are available and you're back on the road quickly!

Don’t forget to file for “Diminished Value” claim too. After I was hit on the rear quarter, I got a separate DV check that was almost 1 1/2 times more than the original cost of the repair. They will likely try to low ball you, but just be nice and ask for more.

On the bright side you made it that long. Try 3 days... Hit and run pushed someone else into me. Taking kids for ice cream to enjoy the new truck. Lets say they ate it in the bed waiting for the police.

Also that is not a hitch step, its a hitch staircase.

When i bought my Fusion sport 10 years ago it lasted about 4 days. went to Ikea with the wife. came out someone backed into me the put a hole in the bumper and i was parked in a row by myself away from people. And yes it is a staircase since it has two steps..lol i plan on getting it again. It's 32 wide and sticks out pretty far. i think the damage. would have been worse without it. Also sorry about your bad luck with the hit and run.
