I'm going to mount a big magnet under it, and use that to secure my ham radio. I'll probably have to drill a hole in it too, so a USB may also find it's way in there.
I'm going the flip side with it. I plan on mounting a plate to the under side of the tray. Then I just need to attach magnets to what ever I put in there. I'm avoiding large magnets since I don't know how close to the head unit it's going to be and if it'll screw anything up in it. YMMV.

Where are the USB ports wired to?
"The 12V power point in the lower dash"
The wires which supply the "plug-in"on the right side of the lower dash.

( cigarette lighter outlet) I used the term for description only...
DO NOT plug a lighter in to the outlet!

Color code is
Yellow/ red stripe is +positive
Black is -negative
I was able to pop the right hand lower panel off for access and then fish the wire out without straining it or any further disassembly. The two wire harness is covered with gray adhesive foam which must be scraped off where the connection is made.

A big magnet might affect your radio, try it before mounting it.

I'll be mounting just the face plate there, the radio is a Kenwood D710G, I've mag mounted it before and didn't notice anything odd.

I received my short Garmin cord today. It works perfect and is practically invisible when installed.
Love the new dash tray mod!!:inlove::clap:

Can you still use the 12 outlet I want to t-tap my scanner into the back to hide the wires better but if I have a friend that decides to plug something in I don’t wanna blow it up

Absolutely, it is protected by the same fuse and still works as designed. The total maximum draw of both USBs is less than 4A.
The powerpoint outlet works exactly as always. I'm using an armrest cooler/heater in my back seat powered by the outlet on the back of the console which also is the power source for two USB charge points inside the console.
It is total actual draw which limits the outlet, not the number of devices...
Common sense should prevail of course.

That second adapter below is a bit extreme just to make a point even though it is in common use!:whew:;)

Sorry to resurrect but was going to do the same USB install and had a question. Did u have to remove any material from under the tray to allow the back side of the socket to pass under the dash or was it able to slide past in the corner. Thanks

I think so. The outlet has the transformer built in, making it only slightly smaller than a powerpoint (cigarette lighter) outlet.
If I recall It may have required a small amount of trimming with a razor knife in that corner. Certainly not enough to affect any structural integrity. No other cutting was needed.
The hardest part was fishing the wires down to behind the powerpoint, which required opening the glovebox and removing the little panel to the right of the powerpoint and fishing the wires out the side to make the connection.
It works great and it is very convenient for my GPS or for charging my phone.

Worked up the courage and removed the tray on the Dash.
It does simply pry up!
CAUTION! the two blue fasteners are attached firmly to a flimsy part of the dash.
Care must be taken when prying them up.
Gently pry the edges up then lift the front enough to view the center fastners.
Place a long screwdriver between the fastener and the point of attachment then gently pry until they pop loose one at a time.
Mine came out perfectly without harm.
I plan to install a double USB outlet in the right rear corner.

I want to add a rail for mounting an iPad Pro and a few other things. Is there anything underneath the tray that would secure it more than just the plastic clips
