Looking to get a dash tray to modify for a Ham radio install.

took mine out, but the part number doesn’t seem to work on the Ford parts site.

I found it in the dash section, but it isn’t referenced in the diagram.

Anyone have any idea on the part number or what one would cost?

Hit up your local Ford parts dept. I'm about to take this pic to my local Ford for the same thing now that you took the thing off before me

Ford part numbers are weird. That number is actually a Ford engineering part number which is basically a manufacturing number. Ford Dealers parts departments have access to a catalog that cross-references that number to the actual Ford boxed part number.

Yup! Exactly what the parts guy told me.

$23 or so from the dealership and $17-$18 from an online parts place

If anyone is interested it is:

Work up the front/sides (it clips under the edge of the dash), then pull straight up. You’ll think it’s going to break. If you can work in a trim removal tool or long screwdriver under it, that can help hold the piece that the tray clips into down. Someone might have a picture of the hole when it’s removed that will help explain....

Small tabs around the edges, then two clips on the bottom. I just pried the edges and worked it out.

Holding off on full blown Ham install (for now) may be getting a new DMR radio. So I mounted a RAM ball to the tray and am currently using it for a phone holder. I also have a RAM mount that will hold one of my HT’s

Hmmm. Might be time to pull mine, or order one and get some dimensions. And then do some 3d modeling. I am pretty sure my 3d printer can handle the outside dimensions of the tray......

Edit: Just ordered one. Time to do some prototyping when it gets in. Could be some potential here.....

$18.xx online dealers want around $20 more for S&H. Does the dealer hit you with S&H, too?

Looking to do the same with my 2020 S/Cab, any update on your project?

I ended up putting a RAM mount t-slot in the tray and some accessories. Doing the wireless charging UNDER the tray isn't going to work (space/coil size/etc). But putting one on top may work, but I've decided to go another route.

Oh well, guess I gotta live without a Qi charger somewhere in plain view. I could mount it in the bin below the center armrest, but I know for a fact that I'll forget the phone in there..."out of sight, out of mind"
Thanks anyway bud. :like:
