Has anyone done the kit in "Armor Birdseye"? I wrote and asked for a color sample. It almost looks greenish/gray. I have the Cactus Gray exterior paint and thought the Armor Birdseye might look good.

Installed my old farts faux wood dash applique from wooddash.com. I needed to break up some of the black dash ad this fit the bill. I paid more and had custom made area around the shifter that doesnt have the cutout for the 4x4 switch as I have a 4x2. These kits are more geared to super crew cab as there are pieces you cant use on the scab. Overall im very happy with the change and an unitended result was the applique for the climate controls kind of outlines the switches and makes then easier to see and use for me as im blind in my right eye. Stay cool today its HOT Bret

Hi Jeff,

Nice! When I hired into Ford, our fake woodgrain looked fake. Our resident tyrant Lee Iaccoca hated it too. So he decreed that all simulated wood trim had to look like his custom Desk top made from Cocobolo wood. So when Lee went on vacation, there was a camera crew that came in and photographed his desk.... From then on for quite a few years, Ford products with fake woodgrain had cocobola simulated wood. The F-Series horn pad on the XLT was cocobolo for example. IMO cocobola was much better looking than the older Ford fake wood....

Best,

For those who received color sample chips, did you get them from wooddash.com or did you have to request directly from the manufacturer?

I ended up ordering Real Birdseye Maple LS2 from Wooddash.com

I bought 5 different color samples and one was the matted camo. I real like the matted finish, I wish they offered more choices in matted.

One thing I don't like about my Ranger, is how easily the black plastic interior scratches. I have to be careful not to even set my purse on the console so not to scratch it. I have to tell you though, I dug my fingernail in to a couple of the glossy finish color sample pieces I received and the mark it left disappeared just by massaging the mark lightly with my thumb.

Looks like I stumbled upon another must-have...I've spent so much on this truck and it's not even delivered yet. On another note, has anyone tried drilling a hole through the B&I Trims real carbon fiber? I will need to do this to accommodate the trailer brake controller just below the TM selector, next to the gear shifter. I'd like to know what I'm in for if possible.
i need to drill a hole in mine for my train horn button, did you hear back from them? thanks!

I think you’d end up with the clear layer separating from the layer underneath where the pattern is. I found this out when I tried to trim the one side of the dash piece because it was slightly too large and didn’t sit flush on the dash plate. It’s not too noticeable but I really regret cutting the edge and having the layers separate.
with that said if you’re inserting a button that has a flange larger than the hole you drilled, it could cover this potential layer separation up.

So glad I found this thread. I love wood accents. Now I feel like I'm in my Lincoln and get more than 10mpg!

No sir, nothing but crickets. I still haven't gotten to this but later decided I'm going to use my plastic welder tip or soldering pen to melt through it. Might be the safer route, and can easily go with a smaller hole and keep test fitting until it's just large enough. No need to have a perfect edge as the switch does have a trim plate.

I like that! I have the same setup, all black is annoying and hard to see controls, especially with older eyes

IMHO, old starts at Medicare age!
Never grow old, or up. Just learn how to act in public.

The photos of the appliqués look like they are good fit and finish.
