I read today where she came close to losing part of that leg.
At 41 she should've hung it up a while ago and let someone younger represent us.

I was actually cheering for her. And yeah, I heard she almost lost that leg below the knee. DAMN!
I shattered my tibia when I wrecked my motorcycle in 2005 and still have lots of metal. Talk about pain! Hurt almost as bad as crushing a finger tip.

I know many athletes don't want to admit they're getting old and it's time to hang it up. I just think she (maybe) took a spot away from someone else younger who would've had a better chance of winning.

Almost like knowing when to give in and add a damper to your ranger 🤔. Some of us resist longer then others 😃.

Perhaps, but IIRC, she went out before the real competition began. I just know for her to get over all she's been through to even be in competition health was nothing short of amazing. I saw a spot on her during her training and damn, her workouts were tough as crap! Likely well beyond any current athlete will be in their 40's.

I'm a Mikaela Shiffrin fan , she's humble and low key and I think better looking than Lindsey and in general skis more under control than Vonn. She's had to overcome a serious injury last season and has spoken openly on the impact it had

I like Shiffrin as well, and agree with your assessment of her. And I know they trained in different skiing disciplines, but I honestly doubt Shiffrin could handle the speed and rigors of downhill.

You may laugh but I did swim team in high school and as weird as it sounds you can "sweat" while swimming. When the pool was too warm, workouts were hell - when the pool was cold jumping in was hell but once you started working out it was MUCH better,

I don't know what the temperature of that pool is or the temperature of that water, but......

IDK but I've been in a lot of pools (never swam competitively) and never ever broke a sweat. Maybe the high school kept them hotter than normal? Even in the ocean down on Marco Island where I've spent many summers the gulf water averages 87 degrees in the summer and I've never felt the need to cool off pouring water over me. lol

As far as competition swimming pools go:

The temperature of a competition swimming pool typically ranges from 77°F to 82°F (25°C to 28°C). This range is mandated by the International Swimming Federation (FINA) for competitive events, including the Olympics. Specifically, the optimal temperature for competitive swimming is often cited as between 78.8°F and 80.6°F (26°C to 27°C), which balances comfort and performance for athletes

Swimming competitively (or conditioning for competition) is MUCH, MUCH different than swimming for fun.

Sweat in a pool sounds weird, but it obviously isn't really sweat, but you do get hot. The hotter the water in the pool, the worse it is. If that water he was pouring on himself was cold, I can understand that honestly.....

I often wonder, do you sweat in a hot shower?
