That's why you have to steal one of Grand Pa's adult diapers...never trust a FART when you are older than 40 !! Especially after Taco-Tue'sthat got me to thinking about doing the toilet seat but then I got to thinking about that emergency release of super taco Tuesday and the tooo long wait for the seat to get down...
"energy management system" nice. Ha that will be what I shall call my damper from now on.I am a patent attorney... So I thought I would look to see if there are any interesting patents on tailgate dampers. Ford has an interesting one here. https://patents.google.com/patent/US7654600
GM has one here. https://patents.google.com/patent/US7850219
Another that looks similar to the Dee-Zee model, although it appears to include more parts. https://patents.google.com/patent/US8226146
Not to be outdone, Toyota throws it's tailgates into the arena. https://patents.google.com/patent/US8544930
And Toyota makes a solid contribution here with a patent application entitled "Vehicles Incorporating Tailgate Energy Management Systems." https://patents.google.com/patent/US20140182207
I can't help but wonder if Tesla will want to put one of those on the Cyber Truck to recapture energy from the tailgate lowering to recharge the battery.
Who knew tailgate dampers were such cutting edge technology and such a large market?!
Genius! Shouldn't we get a green energy tax break for installing such energy management systems?"energy management system" nice. Ha that will be what I shall call my damper from now on.
There is another reason for adding a tailgate damper. I and my wife have no problems opening or handling the weight of the tailgate. However, our 4 year old grand daughter came over one day and was opening the tailgate. If I had not seen it start to happen and got there in time it would have whacked her pretty good in the head. I ordered a damper that night.Welcome to the candy ass club......there, I said it, I'm done!
Yeah, that is the reason I put one on my last truck. An F150 tailgate would have done a number on the head of a toddler. There is another reason for adding a tailgate damper. Next thing you know you'll have a truck that does things when you simply ask it to, like change the temperature, or radio stations, or skip to the next track in your playlist.I absolutely love this thread. I bought my damper before I even knew there was a Cold War divide over it. Cracks me up.
I guess you can put me down for the candy ass club too. By the way, I also have power steering, electric windows, and an automatic transmission because I'm really a p*$$y. ?
The road to hell starts with but one simple mod or something like thatNext thing you know you'll have a truck that does things when you simply ask it to, like change the temperature, or radio stations, or skip to the next track in your playlist.
My future destination, and to think I started my journey with a tailgate damper...
Certainly seems the road to financial ruin starts that way...The road to hell starts with but one simple mod or something like that
No that was joining this forum!Certainly seems the road to financial ruin starts that way...
I think two dampers should be banned because the amount of testosterone released into the atmosphere by two operating at the same time would immediately cause every female in a 4 block radius to sprout armpit hair and the beginnings of a mustache.I just realized... The gallery photos of my truck does not include a picture of my damper! I was also wondering if anyone has made their truck doubly awesome with two dampers? It is quite possible however that with two dampers when opening the tailgate the truck would instead flip over on top of you.
