Thanks Hounddog for your honest response, I also have little need for a habitable rear seat and prefer the 6 foot bed.
I currently own a 2000 Supercab which has a disturbing trait, while driving on a certain section of a highway, the body of the vehicle flexes enough to cause the left front door latch to become ajar.
Mind you the door does not fly open, but the door does become ajar, I've owned this truck since new and repeated visits to the dealer yielded no positive results. I've since learned to live with it and avoid that particular stretch of the highway.
Hopefully Ford has eliminated this flex in the new generation Supercab.
the old ranger supercab doors where an issue. I had one that had the passenger rear door rusted shut.....never did get it open.

These rear doors are larger and a much better design. I don't see the same issues popping up.
I think the issue was a poor latch design rather than the cab flexing. I had the same door ajar light/warning with 2 old Ranger Supercabs. The issue was the latch. could never get it adjusted to close tight. Could always push on it and get movement. damn near every other pot hold would result in a warning.

My SuperCab comfortably accommodates any four people who would not exceed their individual share of the Payload of the SuperCrew.
After three months of daily use, carrying everything from furniture, to groceries, and passengers from 3 to 96 years old, I love my SuperCab.
I have received nothing but compliments from every one, well... except my 96YO MIL has a bit of difficulty in climbing up into the cab of the Ranger and prefers my Transit Connect which is the perfect height (she's 5'0").

The SuperCrew has only two passenger friendly advantages...
1]A third cramped passenger added to the two comfortable passengers in the rear seat.
2]Rear doors which can not interfere with the fronts.

The SuperCab does offer better access to the rear seat and has the versatility of removing one seat bottom for cargo and leaving one for a passenger.

I know some here are annoyed by the use of the terms "Sedan" and "Coupe", but anyone who has owned both knows that it is a fair comparison.
In the Coupe, the front door must be opened to allow access to the rear seat, but due to the addition of the rear suicide doors the front seat person is not required to exit.
The Ranger SuperCab seating is the equivalent of a typical 2+2 coupe with better access to the rear seats and the advantages and capabilities of a real truck.

The Ranger SuperCrew seating is the equivalent of a typical 5 seat sedan with the great and obvious advantages which accompany the genre, plus the advantages and capabilities of a real truck.
Sedans are inherently more convenient when picking up or dropping off rear seat passengers since they have independently operated doors.
Thanks Floyd for your candid response.
I once rode in the rear seat of my 2000 Supercab in Oregon for 100+ miles when it was new, vowing to never do it again

You have the same exact platform as I to express your opinion.
Perhaps your opinion will be better received than mine.:thumbsup:
Certainly among people who find overuse of emojis to be distracting and distasteful.
Please reread my post #29 , as edited before your response,:fingerscrossed: and see if we don't have common ground.;):like:
I'm really not going to try to figure out what you're trying to say between all the pictures. You've bounced around from saying the backseat is comfortable and everyone loves it, to suggesting that anyone who doesn't like the backseat is fat and/or un-athletic, to saying that the backseat isn't to be used much, to saying that the only two drawbacks to the back seat in the scab is the lack of a third position and the operation of the doors. I'm not interested in arguing with you because that seems pointless, rather I'm mainly trying to clarify my own thoughts for other people who might actually be trying to make a decision about whether a scab is right for them.

Ford bought back my 2000 Ranger super cab because of the same door issues. They got me a nice 2001 super cab that had no issues
Wow, I am impressed that Ford bought back your 2000 and gave you a 2001 as a replacement.
In retrospect, I should of considered the lemon law in my situation.
The local dealers (3) here in Honolulu were not too thrilled that I had purchased it new in Oregon state back in November 1999, drove it a few thousand miles, then shipped it home here. In doing this I avoided the Hawaii state tax when it landed here.
Being that I had accrued some mileage on it, it was considered a used vehicle according to HI state laws.
Alas, the state bean counters have amended their ways since, making it virtually impossible for the vehicle to be sales tax free when landed here, irregardless of it's mileage.
There was a time when it was not uncommon to see new cars on the road here with Oregon plates.

I view the back seats as the modern day equivalent of someone sitting in the bed because they're a kid or it's a short trip or it's an emergency. If you plan to routinely use the back seat you'll be disappointed, but if you view it primarily as a place to throw extra crap that either needs to be climate controlled or accessible from the front seat then it's great. If you'd seriously consider a standard cab if they still existed, the supercab is a no-brainer. No regrets.

You probably need to special order if you want a higher trim or options, they're like hens teeth on the lot.
Agreed sir, the 3 dealer's here in Honolulu inventory Lariat wise are about 95% SuperCrews, with about 80% of those being 4x4's.
Talk about a cash cow !

No regrets with the super cab here. I bought it as a work truck and have no use for the back seats. The first thing I did was to remove the back seats to make more room for storage. I love the fact that I do have doors to access said storage though (unlike my 2011 ranger extended cab). A 5 foot bed (crew cab) would be worthless for a work truck in my opinion.

Now here's a man who uses his truck as a TRUCK !

I almost never have even one passenger and do enjoy the 6-foot box.

The only time I will “need” the back seat (for a person) is coming home from the boat ramp type of thing. My tiny wife has volunteered the get back there should the need arise. In the meantime we are THRILLED with a six foot bed after ten years in Subaru Bajas with a very very short bed. The dealer happened to tell me that FoMoCo insisted they fill the lot with Super-Crews, but they noticed right away there was plenty of customer interest in Super-cabs, and oh wait, they were a bit cheaper on what is already perceived to be an overpriced truck.

This is the one thing that left me a little pissed at Ford. It's not Lariat that gives you the extra speakers, it's the 501A package. I have no problem with them not including that in the supercab because the sub physically won't fit behind the seat (there is no "behind the seat"). BUT ford charges the same price for 501A in the supercab and supercrew, even though the supercab doesn't get the speaker upgrade (or HD radio--and there's no good reason at all for that). A first world problem, but just seems like a shabby move by Ford.
Thanks for pointing the audio system discrepancies between a SuperCab and SuperCrew with the Lariat 501A package.
Yes it is a shady move on Ford's part to charge the same for this package between the 2 body designs and to shortchange the consumer on the audio system.
But, my decision to order a SuperCab is un-wavering, guess I'll have to live with an "Un Bang(ed) and Olufsen" sound system.

I’ve came to the conclusion he’s actually trying to convince himself that he made the right choice getting a SuperCab rather than helping others make the right decision. Maybe buyers remorse? I dunno. If you disagree about the SuperCab rear seats being very comfortable then he’ll just call you a fat ass.

If you need the 6’ bed and do not plan on carrying any rear seat passengers over 10 years old or so than go for the SuperCab. If you plan on carrying a couple full sized adults in the backseat for any length of time and can deal with a 5’ bed then get a SuperCrew. I’m a single guy with no kids. I still went with a SuperCrew because I only have one vehicle and I do carry passengers from time to time. I also have a big Goldendoodle and I put a hammock style cover over the backseat and he has a nice place to ride when I take him with me.

I have no regrets on the purchase of my SuperCab 2WD Ranger STX.
I would not own any other variation of the new Ranger.
No regrets buying the SuperCab. and for clarity,,, No "Buyers Remorse"

Regrets...
To anyone who has taken offense at my comments, I assure you that none was intended.
I realize that most people know that, and accept that fact.
To those who don't, and to the extent that I may have instigated the vitriol directed at me as a result, I apologize.
I will make a renewed effort to remain civil, and for the sake of Ranger5G, I ask no less of others.

Still, there is much to be learned from differing points of view, and I hope that all sides and spirited discussion will continue to be respectfully tolerated.

This exact situation drives me crazy with Ford and the Ranger. The dealer couldn't explain it and I called a couple different people at Ford and they couldn't explain it either. I asked how they could possibly charge the same amount for the 501a package in the supercab and not provide the same stereo equipment!! I do realize the sub woofer won't fit in the back seat area of the supercab. But then charge less!!
Mine is due at dealer in 2 two days. Although excited to finally get it I still get angry about the sound system.

Just emailed the dealer fleet sales manager information on what I want him to order on my behalf, as you can see, I decided on a SuperCab despite Ford's stance on the sound system with the 501A package.

Just took delivery of my supercab 501a with tech pkg.
The sound system is still a huge upgrade from my 2009 Tacoma TRD Sport. As it should be.
Sounds pretty good. Think you'll be happy with it, too.
