I have a question for the folks that have been out to the car shows or test drive events.

How does the comfort compare between the cloth and leather seats? I realize that is a very subjective question but thought I'd ask.

I am 6'3 and 195 just to add another possible data point.

When I lived over in Asia, I had a friend that bought a 2017 Ranger and his cloth seats looked similar to what are in our US Rangers. I found them to be very comfortable. Somewhat firm but supportive which is what I like. I had a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that I put 10000 miles on in 3 months and those seats felt very similar. Never had a complaint from my back or rear end (the high upright seating postion helped as well)

My Dad has a 2009 F150 with leather interior and I have never found the seats very comfortable. Much different truck I know, but that's the only comparison I have.

Leather is nice but comfort trumps luxury for me.

Keep in mind the leather seats in the Lariat are really “leather-trimmed”.

As for comfort, I only drove the XLT with “premium” cloth seats, but I found them to be very comfortable to sit in. I didn’t want leather since I’m planning to put the Covercraft seat covers over them anyway.

Thanks. I think I'm going to try and order one today.

I'm sure Katzkins will have a nice leather seat cover for the XLT. A lot of the F150 guys are very happy with them. I attached an F150 XLT example. Probably be able to get them purchased and installed for around $1200. They have lots of styles, I'd think something sporty would go best.

I was only able to sit in an XLT so can't speak for the leather. I thought the seats were pretty comfortable. There seemed to be plenty of butt and back support but they fit a little loose for my tasted width wise. Most truck seats seem to be a little wide and don't cradle your side like sports cars seats and these were the same.

I honestly wasn't impressed with the clothed finish it looked more like a base model cloth finish instead of the "premium" they advertise. The truck I was in had the tan seats so I'm hoping the black finish I ordered looks a little nicer.

a thing to keep in mind. if you use seat covers on the lariat. you may not feel the benifits of the heated seats as much.

I had heated seats in my Prius and in 4 years I never once turned them on. If I could get the Lariat in cloth seats or have vented seats I'd be happy. Leather gets so painfully hot without seriously dark tint.

Probably don't need heated seats in Florida, but my wife wouldn't let me buy a vehicle without them once she got introduced to them in her car.

Definitely don't need the heated seats in Hawaii, but if plans work out in a few years I may be in the mountains some place.

I thought the seats in the Asian Wildtrak I sat in had a fairly snug fit (like the Jeep seats I thought). The fabric material was premium. Nice stuff.

FYI to those thinking about aftermarket seat covers, there is a specific warning on page 43 of the owner's manual about not using aftermarket seat covers as they may prevent deployment of the side curtain air bags system. I had to look it up for the page number. I fish a lot and had considered purchasing covers to protect the seats from the dirt and slime that fishing trips often leave you with. I may now just use oversized bath towels.

they make seat covers specifically designed for side air bags. There made to brake away and in a accident. In fact it's hard to find seat covers that arn't designed this way, which is annoying for people with older vehicles.

And for everyone questioning heated seats...there good for keeping your food warn in the passenger seat on the way home from the drive thru.

I've only driven a pre production Ranger at the SF Ranger drive event and haven't seen any global Rangers so can't compare. I'm not saying they weren't comfortable but they defiantly didn't wrap around my side snugly, granted I'm fairly thin. I've already ordered a new Ranger so I'm committed to buying one and am very excited to get mine after the test drive. I've driven the Chevy and Toyota mid sized truck and by far prefer the Ranger after driving it. One of the few things thing I was disappointed in when I finally got to sit in it and drive it was the cloth Upholstery. The stitching on the seats in the XLT was thick and course and honestly what I would expect in a base model vehicle.
