I just got into a 2019 Ranger xlt and while it is almost summer, Iran into an issue. AC works great, but the day after I got it home, we had a cold front come through and morning temps were in the 40's. I am 53 and I don't like to be chilly so I figured run the heat in my way to work. Cool, not cold, air was what I had coming out of dash and floor vents. It being newer and touch screen and buttons no knobs, i figured i had SpongeBob wrong in settings. Friend hopped in passenger side and remarked it was uncomfortably warm on their side. Stuck my hand over there, warm air on vents but still cool on my side. Did shove research and discovered that blend door actuator issue. Now I don't hear anything clicking or popping they according to Google is supposed to be indicative of a bad actuator. I wanted to go the easy route and pull fuse first but for life of me, manual does not list that fuse. Tried the battery thing. Should I unhook both ground and hot? Also tried the holding power and recirculation buttons and ac/defrost buttons, but nothing. Any other suggestions?

There’s a dual button that will separate driver and passenger sides of the cab. You can have cold air, your passenger can have hot air. Make sure that dual button is pressed so the temps are the same on both sides of the cab.

Try setting the temp as high as it can go for a few minutes and then set it all the way low for a bit. See if it recalibrates the blend door actuator position control. If not, either the actuator is bad or the HVAC box is warped, and the blend door is binding.

Did you set it all the way high and then all the way low as I said above?
Yes(or at least I think I did, I know i was frustrated that morning and just remember turning it off all the way and running the seat on highest setting. At least my butt stayed warm.

I might be wrong. My wife’s 2020 stx ranger doesn’t have it. My 2021 xlt does. Yours may not.

Try pulling the FCIM fuse for 5-minutes and then reinstall , this will force a , actuator cycle (recalibration) - a high end scan tool will show actual actuator position in (percent) - what Ranger Bill is saying - tap the button arrows to show (HI) and then (LO)
I am working on limited functions at the moment - Hard Drive Crashed (Limping) and working on recovery, luckily no files lost but its dying - Man i did not realized how many files i had buried and need to move to the new puter - the old one - IDK its a 2012 model and cannot upgrade to win 11, i may just replace the drive and reinstall 10 - i think for what i put it through and its age - and i only replaced the dvd drive and battery - its been a good machine

I am not saying to turn it all the way off. I am saying to turn the temperature setting all the way high for a minute and then turn the temperature setting all the way down for a minute while in heat mode. This will recalibrate the position feedback of the blend door. It is very simple to try this to see if it helps.

There is not a guarantee that you will hear the clicking /popping noises.

Mine didn't make noises until it complete failed.

Here is the TSB on the HVAC box for 2019-2020 Rangers.

SSM50629

This happened to my truck (2019).

I was getting 70 degrees out of the driver vent and 120 degrees out of the passenger vent.

Thankfully mine was replaced under warranty as it is an expensive repair due to requiring complete removal of the dash.

There is a very lengthy thread HERE about it.

The SSM number changes several ties over the course of the thread as Ford kept updating it.

I went in and held the +button in until display showed "hi" hot air passenger side cool on driver. Pressed - until display showed "lo" cool on both sides(didn't have ac button pressed)

OP you described exactly the situation i had. no popping, clicking, or anything but no matter what i changed on the thermostat there was a discrepancy between what i had on the driver's side and what my wife had on the passenger's side.

HVAC box or actuator was boogered. ford had to pull the dash and replace. 2 day job. i think it was like $3800. i called ford customer service because i was just out of warranty. i told em i was at their mercy and begged for them to help out a peasant like me. they agreed and told me all i'd owe is $900. they threw a free maintenance plan in for my troubles (worth nearly $900 itself). good luck.

Get a NAS with redundant storage array and then a new cheaper computer. I retired my old computers that could not run Win11 or converted the to running Proxmox to host VMs on. I replace my 2011-2012 990FX based Asus board build in 2020 with the X570 based Asus board.
