I checked all four of mine, none are broken, I have close to 17K miles on the truck now, it's been through single digit lows to triple digit highs. My guess is they got a bad batch from wherever it is they come from.

This is such a trivial thing to have to go back to Ford to get repaired under warranty, that I'm not even going to bother until I go get a free oil change. For those who are making aftermarket replacements, please add more stops along the path of opening the door. This is the type of crap that I was worried about when purchasing a Ford, and so far, the small annoying problems like this have proven my worries.

From my perspective, things like this don't bother me much. The things that are worrying are design and/or engineering defects - I guess you could say this is a design defect (using a cheap material for this part), but it really doesn't affect the operation of the truck. The only problem I've had is a leaky mirror turn signal light which was a 15 minute repair job.

I'm curious what other "small annyoying problems" you've been having?

The paint job on my Ranger has a lot of dirt in it. There is a vibration when accelerating, and it is badly amplified when towing. When removing interior panels for adding accessories, some of the clips just break, and some rip the plastic off of the panel they are attached to. Automatic unlock doesn't work when shifting into park. Minor crap besides the paint, which, IMO is a bit of a bigger deal.

I could 3d print something. But it still would be plastic. I wonder if I could somehow make it "beefier" - like thicker all around.
I'll have to look at mine and see what the challenges are.

Agree, but the dealer will have it all day to put on running boards, bring to shop for spray in bedliner and touch up some paint so will have them fix it too.

I'm going to resurrect this thread.

Mine has not broken , but I kept looking at it and it kept looking a little crooked.

It looks like the metal part screwed to the door frame was set square and when it was torque down it angled upwards clockwise.

I loosened the screw and it immediately relaxed into a more squared position.

I then tightened it back down.

It now doesn't have that feel as if it's trying to break the plastic end.

I did it to both front doors as the rear doors seemed perfectly Square.

If this shows up enough which it will, do you think a recall will happen?

Not a chance. A TSB maybe. Recalls are for safety related items.
Hi Derek,

Not really true...Ford will do recalls for customer dissatisfaction, emissions etc. Not just safety.
