I searched this topic pretty heavy before getting back into a ranger. I have two kids. One is 3 years old and the other still in a rear facing pumpkin seat. My main concern was would I be able to put both kids in the back while not having my stomach pressed against the steering wheel and my wife’s forehead against the windshield.

after buying the truck, I felt guilty because I wanted this truck so bad, I was willing to get it even though my eyes and gut told me that it would be tight with the kids in there.

I am proud to report, I can fit the rear facing pumpkin seat behind the drivers side without adjusting my driving position at all. And the front facing toddler behind the passenger seat without any seat adjustment for the wife.

We are regular sized people. I’m 5’10” 165 lbs. my wife is 5’7” 140 and smoking hot.

Hopefully this helps those doing the same search I was before buying

this truck is a viable family vehicle if need be. But why have messy children in your car or truck when your wife has one to use

What model rear facing car seat did you use? I tried rear facing behind the front seats but had to move the seat too far forward for a comfortable ride up front.

I keep a high back booster behind the driver’s seat for 4 year old, a normal booster behind the passenger seat for 6 year old, and I occasionally put the carrier car seat base in the middle rear facing for my 6 month old. It’s tight, but we have some good times!

I have 4 kids, 2 in car seats. We have a HUGE front facing and a rear facing. Rear facing is in the middle, the huge forward facing is on DR side. We do have to move our seats up slightly. I am 6'1" and have no issues with where the seat is. Hope this helps! We also use this setup in my wife's Jeep Renegade, I do feel like I need to move back a little in that lol.

They’re both graco but the exact models I have no idea. One is a typical toddler seat that starts rear facing then front facing. The other is a typical carry seat with a handle.

I too have a Graco "convertible" car seat on the driver side and found that the tensioner on the top tether interferes with the rear seat back fully latching back to the truck body. Did you run into this problem too? It also rattles as I'm driving down the road.

Smart man. While irrelevant to the post, very nice add if she ever happens to see this thread. You'll do well in this journey known as marriage. :like:

And happy to know the Ranger works for those with small kids.

6'2". No issues with the seats we had when one rear facing. I was up a bit but not uncomfortable.

I take them in an out of the truck depending on what I am doing with it. When it's my 5 year old in the center he loves to throw is feet up on the center console. So he likes the truck over the van for that.

any suggestions. I have a Cybex rotating seat that in forward facing orientation you have to secure the belt / latch section first then the tether. This isnt a problem in a SUV but with the extremely limited wiggle room accessing the tether anchors behind the bench its hard to really get a tight fit on the tether. Any suggestions? I may just replace with an easier installing seat.
