Yes I suspect that you are correct. It is a no win situation that only a fool would entertain. Unfortunately, capitals around the world are full of just such people.
So at the risk of blundering into a political no fly zone here and strictly for my edification, are you saying you feel our assistance to Ukraine is foolish, or investing in and maintaining a nuclear deterrence is foolish?

I was a little fuzzy on that point.

$18 per month comes out to $864 over a 4 year period. They knock $1000 off the BMW and I'll consider it.
Exactly! If it is a subscription model then I should not be charged for it up front!

Haven't read all 5 pages of replies here, but from what I hear the subscription service is meant for people who don't plan to keep the car very long. You can pay something like $450-$500 up front and have it for good. That sounds like a pretty normal option price, especially for a luxury vehicle.

The only question then is if someone pays the full amount up front then sells/trades it in later, is it still enabled?

This is what happens when Automotive industry gets way to into AI and Big Brother. First it's GPS then it's vehicle tracking, (selling your data), then interior camera now they have the remote access to your car to disable and enable the heated seats via an OTA update.... I unerstand it's probably cheaper to option all cars with premium features build em all the same and just enable/disable features. Talk about greed and desperation... Makes me want an even more analog car.
