I just bought one from Varsity Ford. I could not find the "Welcome" discount in the software so I phoned Angie at the dealership and she refunded me that $10 shipping. Nice person, easy to deal with.

So, I believe the final bill for this part is $40 shipped.

I paid it, but I think that is still high for a damper and a couple of brackets, imho. When this damper inevitably wears out, I will get a replacement with a thicker plunger from Napa for $10.

Seeing as the Ranger just came back to NA it's more of a supply and demand thing as far as price goes. If Ford doesn't make these standard in the future I would bet the price will be lower because more aftermarket companies should have these.

A tail gate strut is a must, after the first year though I removed the one I had installed and fitted two new ones to balance the gate up. It was not as straight forward to get the second one on as I'd hoped though:

BEWARE... lots of knock offs and ones that are not guaranteed will fit, so be careful!
