Hi Thom,

I installed this out of amusement, but my Margie just loves it....She was timid to open the tailgate but now....no problem for her...pull the handle and watch it slowly drop... It is a hit in our two person family!

Weird how it seems like this part being available and put on by several people on here bothers a few members. It's a inexpensive add-on that some people really like. I put it on my truck and think its well worth the $38 or so I paid for it. Happy New Years everyone.

For me it's just that i've never opened my tailgate and thought, damn I had to slowly let this down myself! I'm sure i'd like it if it was there but not going to miss something i've never had or perceived a need for. I certainly don't give two steaming piles if someone else gets one and enjoys it

Thats' funny! I traded a 2017' Colorado in on my Ranger and loved the dampened tail gate. I use my truck, owning a pickup is not an image thing for me. When you have an arm full of stuff you are trying to put in the bed, its nice to just quickly grab the tail gate handle and let the tail gate fall. To each his own I guess...........G.B.

The same here...I ordered on the first full day I had the truck...I hadn't heard that slamming sound in so long because my 2014 Ram had it and then mt 2017 Canyon...No way I was gonna have that.

I never thought this was something I would want or need...

Then over Thanksgiving (right before I bought my Ranger) I went hunting with my brother and step-dad and his F-150 had a dampened tailgate.

I soon realized that when you have two coon dogs on a leash, a light, tracking collars, etc that the little strut makes a huge difference.

I haven't ordered my dampener yet but was reminded again last night when I again had my hands full with this time three leashed coon dogs how much nicer it would be to just pull the handle and let the strut do the work.

I already had the Ebay one in my cart but I will order the one from Varsity and save a few more bucks. Thanks for the share.
