Has anyone tried to reinstall an old DFPE sensor that was malfunctioning but has now "dried out"? Is the malfunction permanent or will these things start working again once they are allowed to thoroughly dry out, if in fact moisture is the cause for the failure?

I have thought about it, but have not had the time to experiment. I still have the old one and may try it again when the new on fails. I have 3 new sensors sitting in the parts bin for the Ranger.

I wanted to report that I replaced the LB5Z-9J433-B part and it single-handedly fixed the bucking and surging on my 2019.
Is that the anti-clicking under dash module?

So, I have been lurking throughout this forum for quite some time now because my '20 Ranger has been suffering from the bucking/surging issues. 57K miles. I understand that the DFPE sensor has been the culprit. From what I understand, most people say that replacing the sensor has fixed the problem. But I have seen a few posts where replacing the sensor has not fixed the problem. What gives? My local Ford dealer wants $200 to do a diagnostic on the truck and if it IS the DFPE sensor, they said it would be around $400-$500 to fix. And it would not be covered under warranty because "Emissions Parts" are not part of the remaining drivetrain warranty that I have. So I probably will be replacing the sensor myself and saving myself a few $$$. BUUUUT....what if I replace the sensor and the problem is not fixed? What would I do next?

I'd go ahead and DIY replace the inexpensive sensor first then come back if you still have the issue...

What was the process like in terms of working with your dealer? Just tell them you think this TSB is applicable and let them figure it out? How long did they have your truck?

Just replaced my DPFE sensor today. Only gave a short drive but WOW. Such an improvement. Seems like it helped shifting smooth up a little.

I confirmed there was water in mine. I tapped the hose ends on my hand and some water drops came out.

Took me about an hour to replace and it was a bit a pain.

Managed to get it from the dealer from $2 after ford rewards points. Best $2 I ever spent.

Did the hoses and all. Part # LB5Z-9J433-B

I still wonder if splicing in some cheap disposable dessicant like what you can get for compressors at harbor freight would extend (double?) the interval and postpone the decline and failure.

confused and frustrated. Just got home from a drive home from work, the surge/bucking is starting to come back. I’m confused because I’m positive that the new part is what installed instantly fixed the problem, night and day. Why would that same part go bad so fast?
