What about converting to the H9 bulb for low beams instead? It's much cheaper and just requires removing a tab with a hot knife. A member did this a while ago and posted pics. I have the link below. You can definitely tell it's brighter. Any drawbacks or concerns with this?

The stock bulbs aren't bad. I notice my night vision isn't as good as I get older.
I do not tow at night for that same reason. But, i see the headlights as plenty adequate here on these lonesome south texas roads. Unless i dont know the difference because i have never had good lighting??

If that is the case, how come the lowes stayed on when I turned on the brights before and after I started messing with Forscan?
I could be completely wrong then. Im going to have to look when I get home. That is how ford always were.

Lows turn off if you lock your high beams on. If you pull back to flash they both stay on.
Nope. My lows stay on when I “lock on” my highs. Only my fogs turn off.

Mid-Size

Check out the Auxito H11's & 9005's on Amamzon. They get good reviews.

AUXITO H11 H8 H9 LED Headlight Bulbs 12000lm Per Set 6500K Cool White Wireless LED Bulb, Pack of 2, Headlight Bulbs - Amazon Canada

Word is don't go brighter than the 12K's as they are too bright for the factory reflectors and will need to probably adjust the aim a bit so as not to blind on comers.

These are what I'm considering if I do decide to go LED but I'm still not convinced its the right way to go with these housings.
I can back this up 100%... I had the same complaint with my XLT, my edc flashlight was brighter than the trucks hi-beams!!! I got the Auxito low-beam & fog bulb replacements on sale... don't remember how much but it was nearly 50%off why I pulled the trigger as they were on my radar...

Anyways just the low beam bulbs alone are a HUGE improvement! The fogs also greatly improve the side illumination in front of the truck as well. I'll be real I think the Auxito setup is better then the Lariat's. I will say I am glad I didn't buy the hi-beams... really I don't think you need them. They'd be waaaaaay overkill and absolutely unusable on the road with traffic they'd be so bright.

I have a Lariat, so I don't have to worry about headlights anymore. The lariat lights are great just the way they are. But definitely go LED if you upgrade. Not only will they last longer, but they'll be brighter and better light. 5k to 6k light is best. You'll see details and shadows better.

Don't worry about the nay-sayers on here that insist LEDs are a PITA. They're not. You'll see much better with them no matter what housing you have. I don't know why some people just want to come down on everything, but LEDs are great and as long as you don't go too bright with them, they won't hurt on-coming traffic.

Just, whatever you do, DON'T do anything amber with your lighting. Not only does it look awful, but it's useless to help you see at night unless you plan on doing a LOT of off-roading. And if that's the case, then you should probably get an amber light bar put on for all your off-roading adventures. If you're only an occasional off-roader, though, stick with bright white. It will look better and you'll see much better in 99% of your driving occasions.

There are a number of reasons I regret not buying the Lariat. Headlights, Stereo and Leather are the main ones:). However, the most annoying is definitely the headlights in the XLT. They are terrible! I generally drive with my fog lights on at night as the halogens are basically useless. Does anyone have any recommendations for brighter bulbs/led drop ins etc ? I am not interested in spending 2K on a set of Alpha Rex's or other full assembly replacements.

Thanks in Advance,

Paul
XLT, Stock Hi and Lo beams, Amber LED fogs (https://www.ebay.com/itm/184238645666?epid=7042642042&hash=item2ae57aa1a2:g:QfcAAOSwHzheh7pQ&LH_BIN=1) and bambi mode thru forscan. No complaints and never looked back. What I see in front is lit like the sun. I have bought several models of Auxitos (for Honda Fit, Toyota Pruius and my VStar 950 Motorcycle) and am very pleased with their brightness, build, and durability.

Am i the only one ok with the lights??

2022 xlt fx2
I think you may just need to see your stock yellow halogens side-by-side with LEDs put in. It's a night and day difference. When I bought my first XLT a few years ago, the very first thing I did to it within a week was change out all the lights, low/high/fog. I couldn't STAND the yellow halogens. Especially since they were a different color than the fog lights already. Pet peeve, I guess.
