Hmm. Me a fan boy? No. But I do love a brand that makes me happy. So far so good, proud to be part of the Ford crew until I find the next perfect vehicle. Perhaps a Ford since I am currently happy, but we will see what the market brings by then. The landscape is becoming so different with the transition to electric.

I'm not really brand loyal. The Ranger is my first ford and first American brand. Back in the 70s and 80s American cars were so terrible IMO that I vowed to never own one. I think most manufactures have gotten the hint that they can't just sell crap and stay in business and for the most part all brands are good, with the occasional flop.

I'm happy with the Ranger, even with it's minor warts, and look forward to the 6G redesign.

Ok a disclaimer, my father was a Ford mechanic for his lifetime and my brother too.
That said I’ve owned different brands of vehicles but I keep coming back to Ford.. I find each brand has a different “feel” to them from driving, seating, visibility etc…

I like Cadillac V series sedans but I’m a truck person at heart..

I’ve noticed in the Ranger 5G and new Maverick forums that there is more of an instant gratification loyalty, More so in the Maverick forum. Yeah maybe it’s just impatience in today’s world but there is a lot of whining like waiting for a new video gaming console to come out.

Yeah at 64 I guess I’m just old school and experienced but it bugs the crap out me… just saying.. Maybe it’s just youths (utes) that will someday figure it out.

Ford didn’t get by being a slouch but they had their moments… Sometimes you gotta make a stand..

Rant over…
My first truck was a 20+ year old 4X4 F150. I leaned Ford cause my friends had them and had good luck with them. For the money I spent on the purchase, and didnt have to spend on upkeep, Ol Sanford and Son did very well. So Ford started to earn some loyalty from me. Next F150 purchased was over 10 years old when purchased and it has also been pretty good on maintenance but hauled(still does) many loads of firewood and has continued to keep me in the Ford family.

When I started looking for a smaller truck I researched all the brands but found the Ranger the most appealing. Still, I would purchase and look at other brands with my next truck but Ford has earned some "loyalty" with myself.

Overall not a very brand loyal person.. Husqvarna Chainsaws, Levi jeans.. and cheap beer... They are my only brand loyalty at this point...

Just to clarify.......people say "the big three" as far as American brands. Still true but now it's Ford, GM and Tesla. Chrysler (now known as Stellantis) has been foreign owned for years.

I have zero brand loyalty. I actually sat down and made a list of every vehicle I have ever owned. 33 in total across 14 brands. I buy what fits my needs the best, period. 9 of those 33 times it has been a Ford. When the wife's lease is up on her Infiniti in November we'll likely buy a CPO Edge because that is what has her eye right now, so maybe we'll make it 10 times lol.

I'm not brand loyal as that is being like An amazon loyalist... Why be loyal to a corporation that only cares about whats in your bank account.

*gasp*

Anyway, I grew up in a "GM" family, had plenty of S10s and sonoma's and with the exception of one, Loved em all.

Had 7 S10s in my life, they were work trucks that I drove 52k miles a year so I'd sell n buy another s10 after a year.

Other than a few needing lower intake gaskets, never let me down.

in 2008, purchased my first brand new truck, 08' GMC Canyon. 72k trouble free miles but got repo'ed due to life circumstances.

Previous truck was a dodge dakota(Used 05).... I... had frustrations to say the least.

Current F150, I've had multiple issues with it. Hopefully my ranger will mirror my luck with the canyon. I'd return to the canyon if it wasn't so weird looking.

Side note: Back when I used S10s for work, I had to drive in a 94' ranger for couple weeks(while looking for another S10) Bounced it off the guardrail after losing it on ice, rolled it twice.. Continued driving it to finish my shift.

That messed up event left me highly impressed with the ranger.

I swore off American brands after my GMC suburban ate 3 transmissions. Ive owned: Toyota, Mercedes diesel, GMC, Subaru and now this Ford. The wife has always had either Mazda or Honda. My parents always had volvos and now subarus. I have zero brand loyalty but I buy what works for me and the Ranger does more than I ask if it.
My cousin is a high level engineer with Ford. She told me the Ranger was coming here before it was announced and she got me a deal on mine.

I realize I am part of this group sometimes. Just today I was a little frustrated I could not get a propane splitter delivered same-day from Amazon. I mean, now I have to wait until possibly the end of tomorrow? Ugh! And that is a $24 piece of brass.
I am old enough to remember when you had to make phone calls and order from a catalog, then wait 6 - 8 weeks for delivery. Now I'm spoiled with online ordering and delivery in 2 - 3 days.

Also, when it comes to Pick-ups, always had Fords as my dad did.

I am not brand loyal, I love anything automotive. I prefer American, but had others. I've had Chevys, Fords, Mopars, Nissan, Toyotas, Hyundai's, Mitsubishis, etc. I see something I like I buy it.

My Grandpa worked at World Headquarters seventh floor, He handled the tooling for Latin America. My Dad was a Welding Eng, and the whole dam family worked at FoMoCo, over a 150 years worth combined . Do you really think there is another truck out there as good as a Ford Truck? Answer Hell No!

Grew up in a GM family. My parents are from Michigan and my Uncle started working for GM in High School and retired from there. However, I can't say there was any real brand loyalty growing up. I remember Ford, Chevy, Toyota, and VW's. But for some reason I've always considered myself a Ford guy, even though this Ranger is only my second one ('99 Ranger was the other)!

What strikes me is how many cars some of you have owned. This Ranger is really only my 10th car/truck that I have owned my whole life (I am 55 years old). A '78 Datsun and '74 VW Beetle in High School, after that only motorcycles for the next 10 years or so. First real car was a Buick that I inherited from my Grandmother, first new car was a Saturn (drove the crap out of that sedan!). Then the '99 Ranger, a '12 Frontier, and now a '21 Ranger.

For the Princess, it has only been Dark Blue VW Beetles. Currently in our third "New Beetle", she had two older ones before that. It's more about the Bug than the VW though.

I like cars (ok mainly trucks) and have a short attention span. Though the pace of turnover has started to slow down as we get closer to an out of state move and kids in college. The current one will have to do for a while. Only once have I lost money on a car, that was a Ram. Everything else I have been able to buy low enough upfront to get it back on the back side. Been lucky I guess.

I'm a loyal Ford guy.
but not a fanboy.
The reason I go with Fords is they check off more boxes constantly than anyone else when i am in the market.
ts that simple.
because of my past success with Fords, there is some bias that the next time i'm looking for a new ride, they are a top pick to go browse their offerings, and as i compare to the others, the decision is always clear
This.

You made me go back and look and I've owned 13 cars in my life - 1 GM, 2 Saturn (I know it was really GM), 1 Toyota, 1 Nissan, 1 Honda, 1 Mercury and 6 Fords (4 Rangers). Of those only one had a significant issue and that was my Nissan 2WD pickup - a rocker pad broke off, went thru the head and caused the oil and antifreeze to mix - it was quite a mess and wasn't cheap to fix. Other than that, all our vehicles have been pretty reliable. I've had good luck with Fords so they do get a bit of a nod, but when I was looking at replacing my 2005 Ranger I really tried to do an objective comparison of what was available at the time and the Ranger came out on top.

Simply put, Ford has been able to check the boxes for our family over the years.
