I thought I would share my thoughts on the Bold Performance exhaust system. I'll start by saying I was very hesitant to get an exhaust fearing I would create a rice burner, but after enough research found exactly what I was looking for. The quality is nice, everything from the muffler to the band clamps. I like how they include both silver and black chrome tips. Installation was straight forward but not as easy as I'd hoped. Getting the muffler onto the stock mid-pipe was quite the task, looking back I should've removed the mid-pipe from the truck and hammered it into the new muffler. Would've saved me

30 minutes.
It has a nice deep tone, not very raspy. I hear it more in the cab than I anticipated under acceleration, but goes almost unnoticeable at cruise. It has a very deep growl from 1300-2000 RPM and almost gets quieter after 2k. I'm not sure how it stacks up against other brands in terms of performance gains, but it has a pleasing sound which is all I care about. Here's a cold start at almost °0 degrees

Sounds decent, not too loud. I sort of want one for my truck, just not ready to commit. Our Explorer ST has a Thermal 3" system and it's not too loud, but the V6 has a deeper tone to it.

I'm kind of in the same boat, although I'm leaning towards the Thermal system for the ranger. Had their kit on my Focus ST, and loved it. The Thermal kit from what i recall had a deeper tone at idle (especially with a catless DP), but the way that Helmholz chamber worked at cruising speed... i dunno if i can buy another kit that doesn't feature one...

Sounds pretty decent. Where was the audio taken in relation to the exhaust?

I didn't think about Thermal for the Ranger. I'll have to check into that. We lucked into a used system for the Explorer, less than $1k. Drove down to Atlanta one day and picked it up, stopped at Buccee's and made a nice half day out of it.

$1000 for a used exhaust system? What am I missing? My brand new dual rear exit cat back exhaust from Gibson was around $800, delivered. Didn't get to do a Buccee's stop though.:p

Yep, bought a used exhaust system with a couple thousand miles on it, 3" from the cats back. We were forced to replace our system from the cats back, because Ford refused to replace our poorly designed flex pipes, when they failed for the 4th time. They told us the 3 previous replacements were a "Goodwill" fix. I swore I'd never buy another Ford, yet here I am.
You're comparing apples to oranges, I'm talking about a 3" exhaust for an Explorer ST that retailed for over $2k new, not a 2.5" dual outlet muffler for a Ranger. The beef jerky alone was worth it!

Ah, ok. It makes more sense now. I have had absolutely awesome life with stock ford exhausts in the past. So your experience with the flex and ST whatever is new to me. I was hesitant to swap out my stock Ford exhaust for the Gibson, but being tuned I wanted the few extra HP's available, and glad I did.

Nice, thanks for posting. I like the sound of it and have been looking for a new pipe. I was waiting for someone to press the accelerator, but that's ok. Do you have a link to the site? Also, is there any performance improvement you've noticed?

I got it off American Trucks. A little under $500 after tax. I like it, not sure if I notice much of a performance difference. I can say one thing, it doesn't help my lead foot ?. Here's a link

Ford redesigned the flex pipes in the ST exhaust system in 22, our ST is a 2020 and it was our only real option. Wife thought it was a tad loud at first, now loves it.

Here is a video of some throttle blips. After driving it for a week now, the tone has gotten deeper and a little quieter in the cab which is nice. No tune on the truck.

Just curious - how’s your coolant level?
