Those are way too much work. Have you tried just getting an adjustable load bar? I love mine and can put it ANYWHERE in the bed. Secure and cheap way to prevent loads from shifting and makes a dandy tie-off point.

Going for this setup, waiting for the treated boards to dry then gonna connect it in this fashion, to fit a cooler in the middle and smaller drink cooler and bucket for fishing. This will help to prevent things from sliding and when not using it it can separate groceries. It was 7ft 2in x 12in and the smaller pieces are 14in x 12in. After it's built gonna spray with dark grey semigloss to match the plastic drop in.

I did the same with my F150 when I had it. The dividers also worked great when I’d put groceries back there.

It wasn't way too much work; it was easy. And it was fun!

And it has inspired me to build a modular system for the rest of the bed for when I go out trail riding so I can secure all of my recovery gear. Try that with your adjustable load bar! I will need to secure a shovel, farm jack, portable air compressor, traction boards, tree saver, d-ring and soft shackles, etc. It's going to be neat and fun to build!

I might do the same, once I saw a pair of ramps that folded up to be stored like this, that was neat.

I also would love one of those bed racks that rolls out, but the price is keeping me away.

I'm looking at this and thinking how cool it would be to have...but alas I cannot since I have a swing out box. :|
I might however try to do a three-legged chingadeer that uses the forward board slots and tie into a dog-leg there on the other side of the wheel wells...then use a bungee or some such to keep it from flopping about....hmm...

Here is what I'm doing with the swing out box...still in progress. I used the slot on the swing out box.

I made a set of aluminum brackets, and screwed them down using the holes from missing tie downs.

And then used a camera from 1990 to take the picture lol! But seriously can you take some up close pics?

I have strap across my first and second tie down hooks

Creates two areas and can be removed and used if I have a load without taking up space to stow it somewhere
