I posted this before, but I still like PolarBear’s solution to exhaust in
“I went with Magnaflow”. Better flow for the turbo, OEM look and a bit deeper sound.

Agreed. Not to mention that, to me, there isn't a single option on the market that doesn't make the Ranger sound like a damn Focus RS and honestly, that's not surprising at all considering the engine. Still, trucks don't sound good with that kind of exhaust note. Subjective? Absolutely.

I really like that look! But what's it sound like...?
Hey, me too, I love that look, but, being a music guy, I don't want the truck to be any louder! I keep the windows closed, air conditioning on, and listen to tunes on the B&O's "Surround" setting the entire time that I spend inside my truck! Are there any great-looking aftermarket systems that keep the noise level as it is (or make it quieter)? I know, I know, no market for them! Who would want one (besides me)?

I just installed this Gibson. Part # GPE-69550B, it sounds good and took me about an hour to install with the exception of Gibson shipping me 2 1/4" clamps instead of 2 1/2". Ordered it through realtruck.com and they refunded me what I paid advance to get the correct clamps plus about $10 extra. Just waiting on the rain to subside so I can double-check all the fittings and bolts. It really sounds good when I hammer it. I personally like the way it looks coming from the rear more than I do the side.

Like the look but, I'd lose my trekstep.

I had an MBRP single side exhaust replace OEM and have not regretted it once. It does not have a loud sound but does have a deeper sound than no change. Doesn't sound whinny or ricey at all. No drone either.

I'm just sticking with the stock exhaust here. A loud 4-banger isn't a good thing in my book, haha.

Probably the best statements in this thread. There is no getting away from the 4 banger sound. All you can do is make it louder. Nobody is changing the firing order or frequency.

This truck's engine is awesome. But the best thing you can do with a normal 4 banger is keep it quiet.

It would have been interesting though if they gave the engine a crossplane firing order. That's how you make a 4 cylinder sound like a bigger engine. For an example of this, look up some late model Yamaha R1 exhaust note comparisons with normal i4 supersports on youtube. It's quite a difference.

Or just look at this firing order comparison simulation.

That was fascinating. Thanks for posting it!

I have the MBRP exhaust in black. For the price I’m very satisfied. I didn’t want to accentuate a “4 banger” so this was perfect, not to much. Growl when you want it but mild when driving.
I was going to Buy the MBRP Exhaust but the Company wouldn't answer their Phone & when I e-mailed them they had a very negative Answer to my questions like I was bothering them.
So I bought the Gibson Exhaust & those people were really nice....DO NOT Recommend MBRP

But that has more to do with service than actual performance and sound.
Everybody has different experiences with companies. Thanks for letting us know though.

I have the MBRP turn down exhaust installed on mine. Great sound, not too loud, but enough to let you know its there. I noticed that truck drives a lot better now and I get better MPG's too. Super easy install as well.

I have the MBRP and it's got a nice rumble when idling...from the outside I can't say because no one is allowed to drive my truck lol...who cares...it's a 4 banger and the most aggressive 4 bangers sound great with a custom exhaust comes from the ass end of my monster MINI Cooper...the same sound from a pickup truck would be laughable...the best sound IMO is the fake engine noise that everyone hates ? ?

My Gibson exhaust is pretty quiet driving around, but I realized for the first time this evening, when you hit it hard it makes an awesome growling sound. I had not noticed it before because I was so mesmerized by the power from a dead stop that I didn't pay attention. Now that I'm getting used to my tune I can pay attention to the little detailed things. Love that sound!
