Bed narrower at front than rear.

Bought a used 2021 Tremor. It is in great shape and has a clean Carfax. The width of the bed in the back is 55.5" - what it should be. The width in the front is 55.25" I have been trying to put a Tonneau cover on. I have tried the Bak MX4 and the Truxedo Sentry CT. Neither fits because of the bed being a 1/4" narrower in the front. I have looked really hard and I see no signs of a wreck or repair. Does anyone know why the bed is narrower and how to fix it?

I don’t see why a .25” inch deviation would keep a tonneau from installing, at least with respect to the Truxedo. I’m not familiar with the BAK.

take your bed caps off and measure the sheet metal below.
find out if its the caps giving you grief or the actual bed body

I agree, my cover allows quite a bit of variance before I secure it down.

I have the BAK4 and it allows .5" side to side while still sealing, My 21 should have the exact same bed.

I have a Bakflip Mx4. No problems with the install. If you have a drop in bed - you need to cut out notches in the front corner of the liner for the rails to fit properly - that was the only thing that was making it tighter upfront then it should be (if I remember correctly). Sorry don’t have pics of the cutouts I made in the liner.
Hope that helps if that is the problem.

I know it is going to be very tight when I install the truxedo accessory CS rails alongs side the Bakflip rails though.

Truck has a sprayed in bed liner. I don't understand why the covers won't install with the variance in the bed width, but it won't. Does anyone have any idea why the bed is narrower at the front?

i had a 21 tremor with sprayed liner, i didnt have an issue in that regard. If it was offroad'd hard it would have a variance in the rear cause the bed isnt supported there vs the front.

Get a block of wood though...
Or a small bottle jack and spread it apart a little ...I would think the rear would be too far apart before the front is too close together though ?...

Thanks for posting this! I live in the salt belt, I have to get these off and Line-X'd, both on top and up underneath. My 4G box rails rusted away completely and it was because of the plastic caps.
Judging form the dirt and friction wearing off the paint in this video, I'm doing it sooner rather than later.

Taking bed rails off and Line-X'ing may be the solution to my problem. I think my bed came from Ford out of square. I don't think trying to spread will work, the bed is welded in the front. Before I do anything else, I'm going to loosen the bed bolts and see if it squares up.
