Been thinking about making the jump. Figure it would take some strain off the single damper, and also provide a MUCH NEEDED failsafe in the unlikely event that a single damper fails... which I think we all agree could end up in a dangerous or potentially catastrophic situation.

I know I cant be the first one to consider this, but I just got the truck last month and I want to get the important mods out of the way before moving on to tunes or suspension/tires.

you'll never get your tailgate up or down.
heck you wont even be able to lift your groceries into the back afterwards.

the only catastrophic thing that will happen is you wont be able to even open a beer with those skinny ass arms

seriously, when did men want to stop being men??
maybe the extra resistance will help me build muscle in my skinny arms too. Wow this is seeming like a pretty great idea.

i think you'll find the frustration of waiting a week for it to open and throwing your back out trying to close it will outweigh any muscles gains.
OR. I could mass-load the tailgate to offset the increased damper resistance.
Then you enjoy the benefits of a backup damper, but at the usual silky speed.

Does anyone sell a tailgate mass loading kit for this purpose?

Personally, I think I'd wait for a power assist up hydraulic system to come on the market.

I think this is a great idea! My gate taking 23 minutes to go down is so satisfying.

This honestly reminds me of a scene from the show Rick and Morty. The first 16 seconds are all you need here. It does have one swear word, but if you’ve ever seen a PG movie, I think you can handle it.
