My dog got excited and pooped in the bed (of the truck) yesterday. Otherwise, I still freaking love my truck.

2019 Ranger bought in April 2019 and no major problems, just minor like USB not working when cold in morning and "Save battery" message sometimes. Have 27700+ miles on it and just changed oil myself without going to the dealer. Had to remove the left front tire to loosen the oil filter that was tightened too much by the dealer tech who didn't replace the cover all the way. I messed up by mis-locating the drain tube from the oil filter and had to clean up some oil. I really love the truck and am glad to see so many people saying they don't have problems with the truck instead of all the negative responses.

I read all the messages of people having all kinds of problems with their ranger. Really discouraging. I have a 2020 Ranger XLT with 17k on it,

Anyone got a few miles on theirs without problems?
I have 41K and only had the heat air issue which was fixed under my extended warranty. Other than that, perfect.

@Colo_Ranger basically nailed it. Think of it this way. Ford has produced about 370,000 5g Rangers in the USA if this random internet source is accurate.

So how many active members do we have on here? How many active members with nothing but problems?

If you think about the whole of Ranger production existing in a funnel, you're hanging out in the filter at the bottom. The people here are either deranged car nuts like me or folks trying to solve a problem - so of course it's going to seem like nothing but problems around here.

Compare all Rangers made vs. the ones with issues around here and I think it's a decent quality result for Ford.

Oh and 1.5 years owned, 23k miles, 0 issues.
mark me as a deranged (very) car nut as well. 2020 XL, bought new Feb 2020, 37K, no real issues.

I can assure you my '21 is not crap!
"Being that this is a Ranger 10-speed automatic transmission, you've got to ask yourself one question. Do I feel lucky?"

Try turning the steering wheel all the way to the right. Take out the top 3 plastic plugs in the liner (maybe the next one down on the right if you want). Pull back and the filter is right there. You already found out that the oil pan needs to be back further than you think for the filter ?.

I made it almost 5k before any problems, there’s that. ?. Drive shaft center bearing with U- joints and output shaft bearing was the first to crap.

I'm new here, but not new to the ford or car world... and ... People don't post often about everything working good on their cars, they post a LOT about how bad stuff is or any problem they have. (and often not in the most "I want to fix this" kind of way, and more of a "throw hands in the air in disgust, and everyone else should be as mad as I am" kind of way.

Vehicles gunna vehicle... and by that I mean, these hyper complex systems in modern vehicles can, and do fail. just facts of life.

Heck I was looking at Tacoma's, which are known to be the only objects that will outlive cockroaches in the end times... And if you read those forums, you would assume the thing was built out of tissue paper and oil leaks. Taco owners actively talked me down from going that route, which is why I stuck with ford and got a Ranger instead!

So take it in stride. If your car works, then awesome, if it has an issue, fix it and keep driving.

I am a member of Miata.net, The CX-5 Forum, the Maxima Forum, and several Ranger 4G forums. In all those years I have only reported issues on this forum, because I have only had serious issues with my 5G Ranger.

Maybe I am an outlier... maybe not. I have had no problems with my 1993 Miata 67K miles, my 2003 Maxima 120K miles, my Mazda CX-5 5K miles, and none on my 2005 Ranger until I reached 155K miles.

I have had more issues - several very serious, with my 2020 Ranger, than with all the other above vehicles combined. I have spent more $$ on correcting or trying to avoid issues that I know are coming as the symptoms are already showing themselves, than on all the other vehicles combined.

I have never posted a problem report on any of my previous vehicles on any of those other forums. I have posted here a great deal about the weaknesses and problems I have had with my 2020 Ranger, and how I corrected them. I have sought out advice and rec'd it. The members here are great.

But let me be brutally blunt. The Transmission, Driveshaft, Shocks, Charging System (BMS), Fan Clutch, and Climate Air delivery systems in my 2020 Ranger are poorly implemented and SUCK.

I have corrected the issues with the driveshaft, shocks and BMS Charging system. The Climate system and Transmission are both showing signs / symptoms of imminent failure. I am working to minimize the transmission problems, but the jury is still out.

This is the first vehicle that I have purchased an extended warranty on. I previously never felt the need.

Simply stated, pulling out the entire dash to replace the air distribution system, or having the transmission replaced/rebuilt is not normal. And both are very expensive repairs.

If the electric fan clutch fails, it will rip out the electrical sensor cable causing shorts and disabling multiple (6?) unrelated systems (Including Oil Pressure control) that are fused to the same power feed, resulting in ~$500+ damage. It will strand you on the road. Ford has corrected this in the 6G Ranger. The fan is now electric.

Every Ranger built through mid 2020 has a defective Air distribution system in it.

Every Ranger built through mid 2023 (according to the latest TSB) has a defective CDF Drum in the transmission that will result in a transmission overhaul or replacement. The good news is that the transmission techs are getting a boatload of experience on repairing them. So the repair will probably be done right. The bad news is the cost to repair both if out of warranty is ~$9K - $10K. $3K for the AC issue, and $6K for the transmission.

Both are going to fail prematurely. My 2020 Ranger has 20K miles on it. The transmission has been acting up since 5K miles. And the warped Plenum door issue has just begun to rear it ugly head. I hear the click click click of the time bomb under the dash.

In every vehicle that I have ever owned, I could simply start it up and drive away. In my 2020 Ranger I have to allow it to warm up or the transmission shifts are very slow and sluggish, as in 5 seconds to shift from one gear to the next! The last time I drove it I could actually hear the shift solenoids energize and slowly activate. A couple of seconds later the shift would complete. This is not normal! All my autos are garaged. It is not as if the Ranger sits in sub zero temps.

So I guess people do come to forums to complain, but sometimes, SOMETIMES, those complaints are valid. And most would not be raising issues or asking for help if Quality was truly Job 1 at FoMoCo.

Ford is profusely bleeding cash repairing poorly implemented products under warranty. They know they have quality issues that need to be addressed.

Here's hoping you are one of the lucky ones.
I am not saying that people don't have problems, but this is a small sample size of Rangers. Plus, people join because they are modifying their vehicles or because they want to complain about their issues. The people who don't have problems, and aren't modifying their trucks, don't join. That was my point.
