I want it bigger with the same wheelbase. I already did 33’s with a 3.5 inch lift. Eventually I will be on a bigger lift with 35x12.50’s and long travel suspension

I've got a 2010 B2300, which I love, but is getting long in the tooth. I'd like to buy a new Ranger, but for me, it's just too tall.

I don't think a person should have to CLIMB into a "small" truck, but at 5'10", that's exactly what I have to do. The one at the dealer didn't have running boards and I almost ripped the steering wheel off getting in. (I'm not sure that would covered under warrantee.) And my wife, somewhat "altitudinally challenged", couldn't get in the passenger side at all. We found another with running boards and even with those, she couldn't get in. I could, but it was still work, and I'm too old to do aerobics just to get into my vehicle.

More important than my wife not being able to get in (which some days might seem like a blessing), the sides of the box are just too high. There's no way I can PUT something in the box from the side. I can TOSS something in and hope, but that's it.

I really don't know what Ford was thinking! The whole world told them it wanted a modern Ranger. What they delivered was a modern, BIGGER F100!

I guess I better be nice to the Mazda!
Have you looked into the Maverick at all? If you don't need the full capabilities of the Ranger and are specifically looking for something smaller, the Maverick might be right up your alley!

If a vehicle had a man bun…it would be a new maverick. It’s sad to think of a 71 maverick grabber with a 302 in it and this POS now with the same name.

I don't care about shorter and I don't care about smaller, I simply want lower. I want more or less the same dimensions as my existing Ranger, but with modern amenities.

I'm an old man; there's a limit to how high a truck I can reasonably get into. And try as I might to prevent it, I seem to get older every day, making the climb to get in even less attractive.

More importantly though, my truck is not just a toy, it's tool.

I need it to haul stuff, and before it can haul stuff, I have to get the stuff in. The high sides of the new Ranger box forces me to load it from the back ONLY, and that's just unacceptable.

I surely looked forward to the Maverick, but now that it's here, I see that it's barely a truck. (Although if it came with a 6 foot box, I'd certainly consider it.)

What's really funny is on my last trip to the dealer, I parked beside the demo Ranger. Fairly quickly, a big crowd formed .. around my Mazda! A number of them asked the sales lady if THIS was the new Ranger, and were more than a little disappointed when she pointed to the vehicle next to mine.

There are some on here who are lowering their Rangers.

The ranger rear-end does pretty much sit level with my F150.

In fact, if I let my tailgate down and back into a ranger with it's tailgate down, we can do manly machine docking.
(I'll let myself out)

I am coming from a 2003 Range that has been my go to vehicle. I love that truck and may sell it someday. The new truck just seems huge. I am struggling with parking it and it's size. I feel like I have been driving an F-16 and now I am driving a B-52. I guess I will get used to it but I wish it was a little shorter and not as tall. I would have bought the extended cab if the overall length would have been shorter.
Sounds like you want a Maverick.

I've never once heard a person defend the good name of the Mavericks.

Seriously, those things were piles of shit.

Several reasons why that is not a viable alternative, not the least of which is the now mandatory all wheel drive option added to the tow package.
Also, The Maverick only offers a sedan version and is based on a front wheel drive unibody design.
It also has limited towing capability compared to the Ranger.
For several decades the Ranger was offered as a genuine 2WD with 4WD option.

Now the Ranger is only offered as a 4WD....( the 2WD is just a 4WD with parts missing.)
This approach has left Ranger buyers with almost too many compromises to make it a viable option, almost.
At least you can still get a SuperCab, if not a regular cab.
I would have preferred a real 2WD truck, but I compromised.
I would have bought a regular cab, but I compromised.
I would have preferred reasonable cab access height, but I compromised.
I would have preferred easier box access, but I compromised.
These are all compromises which favor the CrewCab 4WD buyer.

I understand that fact and feel I made the right choice in a market which simply doesn't offer better alternatives.

Had the Maverick come first, I would likely have bought one ...
2.0L 8spd FWD with the tow package. It too has a long list of compromises but on balance would have met my needs.
Every choice involves compromises, but now that they have forced AWD on tow package buyers, the Maverick has gone one compromise too far and is now off the table.

When Ford dropped the Ranger, they thought they could force Ranger buyers to compromise and buy F150s, they went too far... and lost an entire segment to an inferior competitor.
In doing so they let Toyota mold the market.

PS, My son is considering a Maverick and will probably buy the hybrid version...
Great choice! (for him)

What do you mean by a "real 2wd"? Talking about how the front wheels have hubs, just with no axle shafts ?

Sounds like you've already got the right sized Ranger?

HAHA! This thing is small, if I can parallel park my 30' RV I can put the Ranger just about anywhere.

I'd just like a 2 inch rear end drop option.. front is perfect stock IMO..

but I think I'll end up raising the nose a bit with bilsteins to level it out some. Also make the ride better in general.
