Wonder how the filter area compares and the filter efficiency. First glance looks like less media area. That could mean more restriction or larger particle size getting through.

Like all the aftermarket filters similar to this, if it flows "more air" than the oe filters, it means that larger particles can pass thru the media. Most are nothing but hype for regular street vehicles.
Besides, truck is already "tuned" to use all the air thats coming thru the oe filter. Feeding more air won't acomplish anything.
I'll stick to the 15 buck Motorcraft.

Not necessarily....the a larger square inch of the same filter material filter would create more flow. A 360 degree cone or round filter could have more filtering area. It's be interesting to check the stats on area.
