Any experience with SPEC-D headlights?

A lower budget option that has been floating around for quite some time.

Average price is around $450 depending where you buy them.

Not really interested in the more common choices, either absurdly over-priced (morimoto) or a design that is just too busy for me (alpharex). These are budget minded enough I am willing to give them a possible try.

Simple design, black housing headlights and upgrades me to a projector low beam. I would probably wire the amber turn signal as my DRL and forgo the white all together. Amber DRL just looks a lot better to me than everyone stuck on running white.

Yes, they use the standard H11 and 9005 bulbs. They actually ship with halogens in them, which would get swapped out upon arrival.

I would add a diode dynamics switch back module to the turn signal feature so I can have amber DRL and retain signal function which is sequential.

Projector housing for lows is a good thing. If I were searching for lights I'd give a try.

I mean, you are somewhat handy - you could always buy a cheap set of lights to crack open and upgrade the components with led projectors...

It would give you a custom look and allow you to pick components you want to spend money on - upgraded projectors vs fancy dancing turn signals and startups....

Making custom head lights involves a lot more than I am willing to take on. You have to be very specific in methods to get them re-seal correctly. Also the learning curve creating something that doesnt look like an amateur hour youtube blue light special is usually reserved for people who have honed their skills doing it.

I would probably spend more than $450 learning the skill set, so between that factor and "time is money" I am not going down that rabbit hole.

Maybe (very far) down the road - but I've got too many ongoing projects now. If left to my own devices and unlimited cash I'd have a whole separate garage of just random ideas in various stages of fabrication lying around.

In the last two years alone I learned (or am still honing) various modifications / fabrications often over juggling my attention span or available time.

Unfortunately I have a problem with seeing a product, sometimes completely unrelated to the application it was intended for, and get fixated on manipulating it to work as I envision. Most times it works, other times it lands in the garbage can with a final thought of, "wtf was I thinking?" and I am at a net loss of money and time.

No shit, probably right, but hey... its not an addiction to cocaine right? My bills are paid and contribute monthly to investment accounts. Hell I only drink booze maybe twice a year (though Redbull / Monster stock probably seen a visible increase since I started this rabbit hole)

One sure fire way for me to not spend money on upgraded lights is to not have replaceable bulbs. I know LEDS usually have a longer lifespan than other light options and sometimes can be considered life-of-vehicle parts, that's not always so. I hope like hell that the LED taillights on my Ranger never just die, putting the replacement cost 100% on me. At least if the truck gets wrecked or they get stolen, I should be able to get insurance to help out (esp given if someone steals the taillights, I probably also now need a new tailgate).

I'm kinda interested in these, but even at $450, they're expensive enough that I don't want to be the lab rat.

I've been looking too.
Some websites are adding extended warranty, makes me wonder about longevity.
I have gone through aftermarket headlights in the past vehicles with problems.
LED strips longevity. Maybe a problem
Lamp bulbs can be replaced, so a plus there.
moisture barrier on lenses and seal fitment.
Retro-fitment in otherwords how is the DRL handled through connector, so that in ForScan, a setting to turn on the DRL mode for a clean install.
