Hi all,

I just ordered a 22 Ranger from my dealership. They mentioned that it was going to be offered on the 2022 Ranger. Has anyone heard anything about this yet?

I haven't seen the new Ranger colors but I know that color was discontinued on the Bronco for '22. Searching only brings up articles about the new Splash package.

My friend ordered his Maverick in Antimatter blue - I haven't seen it in person, but it really looks nice on screen. I wonder why they discontinued it already for the Bronco?

i don't know the answer to that, but it makes me wonder about color changes on orders.

Say I am a fan of blue, and I don't particularly like the 2021 blue, so I order my second choice of red.
With todays delays on ordering, the order takes awhile and they push it back till 2022, where a new color is offered....a blue that i like....is there an opportunity to change the color? im under the impression at a certain point the order cant be changed
From what I've read you can change your build all the way up until you receive your VIN. Now some dealers will tell you that you can't but many have done this with their Bronco orders. Some dealers are just lazy and don't want to redo the paperwork.

There are also a lot of customers who picked Antimatter blue for their '21 Bronco and now have been pushed to '22. The color isn't available and lets just say they're not to happy.

Supposedly low take rate. Seems to be a dividing color on the bronco forum anyway.

Technically, sorta.
Caveat: I've been out of actively working in the dealership environment for 28 years, and now I'm just some dude on the Internet. Ordering and assembly procedures are a moving target these days but the following is an incomplete guide as to how it's supposed to work:
Dealers get a daily report detailing any commodity shortages or other delays affecting each model, and recommendations for work arounds, e.g, trim, equipment, package changes, deletions that will get a vehicle built sooner. Dealers place an order into the UnScheduled Order Bank (USOB) and it is then scheduled based on the order type (retail, stock, fleet etc) dealer's allocation, priority code and a big one these days, commodity restrictions. A preview order is sent back to the dealer for confirmation, once confirmed the vehicle is submitted to plant. Once it is there, Order Type, Body Code, Order Code (Package/Trim Level) cannot be changed, but stand alone options and int/ext color can be added/deleted/amended, subject to commodity availability. Once the order is locked in, about two weeks before the build date; this is "the point of no return."
Once scheduled, the vehicle receives a VIN and usually the window sticker also becomes available.

Back when I was selling Festivas, Windstars and Contours, I personally never had to deal with carryover orders, and allocation wasn't as convoluted as today. UAW contract years could be weird, but otherwise things were mostly straightforward. I don't know what will happen to carryover retail orders because of extraordinary supplier issues, whether they follow regular procedures or build retails to original spec including 2021 paint; doubtful but possible, I suppose. Probably some arcane reason for discontinuing it, like an ingredient for the pigment is short, because the machinery in the Japanese pigment factory is down, because there is a part on back order, because...

re: Antimatter Blue for 2022 Ranger, the only paint change I'm aware of is Hot Pepper Red is back, and Rapid Red is discontinued.

Sorry about that. I posted it in the title only. The dealership said the color antimatter blue was an available option for the 2022 Ranger (which is what I ordered)...sadly, it seems like it's either a delayed option or not available at all.

I agree, I haven't been able to find it as an option...I guess we'll see soon. From what I'm reading, it's either going to be an option that delays the build even longer or not an option at all...

It may be a future planned color,(I personally doubt it) but as of now Antimatter Blue is unavailable in any Ranger configuration including the Splash Package.
How would customers react? Hold out all model year waiting for AB to become available, then it doesn't. Or, you order another color because AB isn't available when you order, then, when you go to pick up your pickup, there is an AB Splash on the showroom floor. Usually, limited run colors are announced at the beginning; e.g. First Edition models.
Here are the colors available:
