Yeah, it's a lot, especially because they call it a DRL module even though that's...not really what it does. lol.
so if you want the DRL lights on without having to actually turn your lights to the "on" position, you do in fact need the DRL module connected which is what I was saying based on others who have also installed. I saw an example of it connected and not connected and it did not come on until auto lights engaged or the switch was turned to on.

Here's the DRL on the Luxx.

While I have the Luxx, I'm still interested in how the Pro with LEDs look. Wonder if the cutoff is the same which would be a cool option (and possibly better than the Luxx with the ability to change bulbs :D).

I have seen pics with LEDS put in the pro but I guess I cant link to the facebook group where the pics were posted. From what I understand talking with the alpharex rep it is the same lens in both luxx and pro. I received my pros today and will be installing shortly and I do plan on putting led in the housing.

Yes, you're correct, but DRLs are *only* triggered when it's daylight based on the dash sensor *and* the vehicle is in gear. Their module only cares about receiving a power signal, and when tied to fuse #24, it triggers as soon as the ignition is turned on. And since the ranger has actual DRLs, this just confuses the conversation.

So in my case I have an XL and the factory drls are the low beam light on all the time which I have off. Do you think if I change the drl behavior in forscan(like if I was installing lariat headlights) that it would affect having the drl led strip on all the time without having to install the direct wiring module?

No. As I said above, the factory DRL will only ever be low voltage, low beam lights in the current Alpharex lights. That signal does not trigger the LED bar at all.

Only the light switch in some on position, or the Alpharex module impact LED strip operation.

The led strips in these things permanent mount or do they have replaceable bulbs that you could change to amber?

I'm hoping that the way I currently have mine setup, with my XLT DRLs being my parking lights all the way around (front, side markers, and taillights) using Forscan instead of my low beams, that plugging the AlphaRex Pro's in will make the LED bars light up when I put the truck in gear like everything else. Because, based on previous posts, the LED bars will illuminate when the parking lights come on. Hopefully that makes sense.

My current DRLs = parking lights on
Parking lights on = LED strips powering on
Ipso-facto (hopefully, in my mind)... my current DRL setup = LED strips powered on

If that's NOT true, then I'm not sure I'll want these lights because I really don't want to run the "DRL" harness they provide.
Based on my testing you should be good. Without the module and the fact that you have parking lights enabled with DRLs means the LED bars should light up too.

The LED strips are part of the housing. I don't believe they're replaceable.

you have a pic of that? That actually sounds like a cool drl option. The parking amber lights with the ford rapter amber lights I imagine would look clean.

Might have to nudge the manufacturer into making some with amber DRL’s then I’ll plunk my money down. Or make them so that they’re replaceable. Because sooner or later somebody is going to have dead LED’s and they’ll look like crap then!

I'm with you on this. I'm currently running my fogs as my DRLs along with my parking lights. I have switchbacks in my front turn/park lights so my DRLs show as white and go amber for turn. Always leave my switch in auto so having them on on ignition on does not interest me. Rather not have the extra module.

I too have the parking lights as part of my drl, but didn’t know I could disable the headlights where in forscan is that option?

So without the drl harness does the startup sequence still happen?
