The startup sequence was one of the driving factors for me, plus I really prefer the output of LEDs and HIDs over halogens (having run variations of both for a while), and the housing has a gigantic impact on that. I feel relatively confident in Alpharex's housings, though I haven't personal experience yet, and I think even the halogen/replaceable bulb housings would be sufficient as a good upgrade over our stock, underperforming, housings.

As I did the LUXX chome model (mid-range), I'll have full LEDs in mine, but I'll still report back in any case.

If we could do a group buy, I'd be in for a pair of the Pro's. For now, my stock lights with the Auxito LED's are pretty darn good.

Now obviously these will look good on our trucks but what we really need are photos of the light outpu on the "ROAD"!!!!!!!! Obviously they are brighter on the truck and I coud care less about that. Please someone get a picture of before and after on the road. Preferably someone who had drop in leds in halogen housings.
I'll try to take some photos tonight with stock headlights and tomorrow night after install. It's a new moon so should show the output decently well.

Here's some before and after. It was a little rainy tonight (just a drizzle) but otherwise I tried to keep it the same. I live on a dead end road that backs up to a farm so I marked the spot I was at yesterday to try and recreate. I do think my passenger side projector is a little high, but hopefully this is helpful. There's hardly any light around here so I figured it'd be a good show of just the output from the headlights.

I appreciate it, what series did you get? The biggest thing I notice is the light pattern is wider. Distance seems about the same compared to stock but yet a better light output

Luxx in alpha-black. The light output is much brighter, and the distance is the same on low since it has the cut off to not blind other drivers. Brights do seem to throw farther but it's hard to pick up in a photo. I'm going to try to get a video I took up and post that too.

I do see it now that you mention it. Did you hookup the extra wire for the driving light or do you keep it on auto?

I did hook up the DRL wiring, but that wouldn't have any impact here I think it's showing the lights on, and then with brights.

Just halogen stock XLT headlights.

I got mine installed today, I still need to finalize the adjustment because it was way off from the factory, but they're really nice. I've got answers to questions in here and a write-up I'll do later. I'll double back either later tonight or tomorrow and get it all posted.

Just halogen stock XLT headlights.
I appreciate the input sir. This is really helping me decide what to get. Now for someone with the Pro series to do a comparison!!!

Just another reminder before I post this, I went with their "normal" Black LUXX housings (not Alpha-Black, because I wanted the chrome offset) for my stock replacements.

In trying to understand all of their wiring, I took a look at the harness that comes with the lights and asked them some questions. Here's what I've got for you.

This is their DRL Harness. The left side wires to the vehicle (positive, negative, grey fuse-tap to ignition-tied source), the right side runs to each of the headlight housings that have a single lead they connect to:
2021-03-11 14.36.11.jpg

  1. The DRL harness (shown above) is a dual-purpose device:
    1. It is used to power the LED bars startup sequence.
    2. It appears (this is still slightly nebulous based on the information I have) that it also controls whether or not there is any DRL function in the headlights at all (they haven't given me concrete answers, but it sounds like the "standard" DRL signal from the truck is ignored in the housing if you don't have the DRL harness installed).
  2. The lights will function just fine without this DRL harness, the LED bars will then be activated with the parking lights, including the startup sequence.
I will be testing this on Sunday to get a confirmation one way or the other about point 1.2, because it would be weird to me if there was a special signal that the truck was sending to the headlights to run the low beams at low-voltage for DRL usage.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have other questions and I'll try to get more answers.
Alright, UPDATE TIME! (Especially for you @the1mrb and @User79)
  1. The DRL harness is still technically dual-purpose, but modified:
    1. It powers the LED bars startup sequence with whatever trigger is tied to the grey wire (supposed to be ignition). However, if this isn't hooked up, the startup sequence will trigger as soon as lights come on, meaning it's not required for this.
    2. The stock DRLs *WILL* power the low-beam bulbs just like they do in the stock housings without the DRL harness hooked up. If the DRL harness is hooked up, the LED bars will light as soon as ignition is powered, and they will dim slightly when the DRLs kick on (when the truck is put in gear).
  2. Still confirmed, the housings will function just fine without the DRL harness wired up, including normal stock low-beam daytime running lights.

Thank you sire, perhaps a picture tonight and then after install tomorrow a picture tomorrow night for comparison!!
I got photos last night with the old lights, I'll get some photos with these new ones hopefully tomorrow night, I'm super sore and worn out tonight, plus it's sprinkling out just enough to make everything wet which will mess with a picture. However, before the pictures I can 100% confirm that these housings are miles better than stock. The width of view on the lights is so different that even my partner who doesn't care about cars made a comment about it. They are dimmer than the LED replacements I'd dropped into my housings, but only because those were truly too bright for the stock housings. I'll get a true comparison posted as soon as I can.

The reason their pages say 16+ is because they *will* work in non-NA units, you just need to be in touch with them, I'm not sure what the change(s) is/are.

If you have any other questions that I can answer let me know. I have some videos to share when I can get them in a shareable format. I'll also be putting together a how-to for this install since...Alpharex hasn't yet provided one for the Ranger.

I have no first hand experience, but from reading this forum about people people who have tried to install ROW lights in NA Rangers. The lower outside mounting point is different along with minor fit changes to the shape.
