Says SRS is 5 60 , airbags and all , and they would have to specifically exclude them if not, i would think...
So ALL of this including the diagnosis, should be covered ... STAND YOUR GROUND!!!

I just saw you had 63000 miles on a 22 !!! Damn you drive alot , still though, it should be on them ...

Apparently airbags are only covered under the original manufactures warranty....3 yrs/36000 miles for our Rangers, unless you have the extended warranty.
I have the BEST version of Fords extended warranty. Airbags are the only thing that it DOESN'T cover. The airbag sensors, electronics, etc are all covered, but not the airbag itself.

Airbags should outlast the truck itself.
I'm on my 3rd replacement in my 2005 Ranger. I keep getting recalls on them over and over. Each time they replace it my dash rattles more. I am considering simply removing them.

Apparently not. I thought I was covered by Corporate Ford's "Premier Plus 150K mile extended warranty, but it covers everything in the supplemental restraint system EXCEPT the actual airbag itself. What has me confused is how can one determine whether or not an airbag will detonate in a crash without detonating the airbag (destructive testing). Because all the electronics that detect a crash and tell the airbag to detonate are supposedly covered.

Can you post where it says "except" the airbag itself? I'm not finding that part, SRS includes the bag itself the way I read it...

The module assembly is the airbag, right ?

Found this.....and the OP stated his Ranger had 63,000 miles....so it may not be covered.
(I just googled 2021 Ford Ranger airbag warranty)

According to Ford's warranty information, the airbag system (considered part of the "Supplemental Restraint System" or SRS) on a 2022 Ford Ranger is covered under warranty for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

He has Ford Premier, which is what I posted from above about the "air bag module" being covered ...

My 2022 Ford Ranger with 63K miles on it needs to have the passenger side airbag replaced according to Gary Yeomans Ford dealership in Belleview Florida. The truck has never been in an accident. The airbag has not deployed (just the idiot light). I purchased the Ford Premier Plus warranty when I bought the truck. Apparently airbags is the one thing it doesn't cover. Replacing the airbag will be over $1000, over and above the $600 diagnostic fee that I already owe just to get my truck back. My Ranger love has evaporated.
Have you checked for any DTC codes?

I don't think so, the air bag module is the electronic device that controls the air bag system, not the air bag itself.

Still part of the SRS , not sure how they get out of it ? , the airbag is kinda the main part of the safety here, sounds illegal to me, I wouldn't pay anything yet...

I'd call Ford and ask them why a 2 year old truck is no longer safe to drive ?

I might want a second opinion. Odd failure.

Yeah, the story you are getting from the dealer sounds all kinds of fishy. I'd call Ford corporate directly and explain the situation and see what they say. I'd be especially interested to know how they can test all the wiring etc and know for certain that the airbag itself has somehow failed.
