Mine says the airbag module assembly AND the airbag diagnostic module and all the sensors, no where can I find "except" on any of it , like belts and hoses and such...
We need answers for anybody that has this in the future...

@Zach@granger , does our Ford Protect cover the airbag ?

It sounds as if NTSB should be notified about the issue also to document it should others also run into this problem with a major safety component.

This is from my - Premium Care Plan
The OP has Premier Plus (per the OP)
I also have a 22 and purchased (Premium Care - Extended Service Plan)

So - Yes, the Airbag Module Assembly is the (Airbag)
The Diagnostic Module Assembly = RCM (Restraint Control Module) or (AKA- SDM-Module)
Sensing Diagnostic Module.

Ford calls the Airbag a (Inflater Module) or (Airbag)

So, it boils down to (WORDING) of the Premier Plus (coverage) I cannot locate the (Coverage) list for Premier Plus or any reference to that coverage (Policy/ Plan Name)

My Plan:
Premium Care - Extended Service

I think the confusion comes in as to the exact coverage that was purchased.
The Premium Care - Extended Service Plan and This One (Continued Service Plan) are the only ones that mention anything regarding Airbags.

I will say this, you are sort of stuck as the dealer cannot/ should not release the truck back to you with a known issue with the (SRS) system.
That could be a legality issue, accident, someone dies due to non-deployment of the airbag.

There are 14 probable codes for the (Passenger Air Bag) and the tests are very specific for this system.
I do not recommend self-troubleshooting this system unless you know exactly what you are doing, one misstep can cause accidental deployment of the airbag.
I will however point out this is mostly a Resistance Based circuit, and that resistance is what the PIDs are monitoring - so a simple dirty connection can trigger the Airbag warning.
So, the Airbag can be verified bad by process of - VERY SPECIFIC - Tests with both PID Data and Wiring Checks.
It depends on if the tech followed the - Test procedure for the code it is generating - This a one of those test procedural steps where you MUST be very attentive as to what you are doing and use a wiring diagram to (VERIFY) the pins the manual is telling you to probe is not going to deploy the airbag in your face (a more overall visual) of what you are actually doing along with verbiage.

Airline Tech,

I purchased the PremiumCARE Extended Service Plan as well. The Airbag Module Assembly is the very first item listed in the Safety section of my document. I think you are correct that it is covered.

They say it's the airbag itself. Not the sensors or wiring. If it were the sensors or the wiring Ford Premier Plus would have covered it. The "good" news is that the diagnostic fee is included in the repair cost , so that the total damages are "only" going to be around $1100. Should an airbag go bad in 2 years? The 2022 Ranger was delivered in December 2022 (COVID production delays), I ordered it in April 2022.
Mine turned out to be when I had the heat distributer box, they cut a wire to the Air Bag sensors and then fixed it by twisting it together and taping. That worked for a year and half and then the tape fell off and the wire shorted out the module.

That is terrible craftsmanship. Electrical tape is banned in our building.

Well, I didn't know until the light came on and the techs who were troubleshooting the air bags asked me about aftermarket work done under the dash and I told them there was none. I told them the only work was from the other dealership to fix the heat distributer box. They then told me they found electrical tape and a wire that shorted the passenger restraint module. They also told me that the wire would have been pinched when putting the dash back in...I won't be back to the first dealership.
