That’s what I use. Sounds like you may need a visit to the dealer. Does it ever work right or is does it always act this way?2 bars

Good follow up question, as mine does. The more bars I set, the gentler the slow-down is for me when the leading car slows...typically. When set on 1 or 2, it only takes some Gomer cutting in or shooting through the gap to cause my engine brake to engage hard enough to concern me. Otherwise the truck just slows to match.and does it react any differently if you add bars to the max distance?
I'm on a 55mph country 2 lane highway and it goes through a small town where it drops to 35 for 1/8 mile and coming into that speed zone where we slow down it gets right up on their bumper before matching their speed.I noticed today on 2 bars it gets a little uncomfortable if you use it in traffic and cars are coming to a stop. I generally only use it on the highway or roads with less traffic. Not sure if this is what the OP is talking about.
Set the distance by using the switch with the arrows, on the left hand, between cruise on/off and the set buttons. Mine works really well. Zero issues other than I wish it had an audible cue to tell me when it was on actively slowing the truck. My 2021 has 3000 miles now and there are a few things that annoy me about ACC.
1- No stop and go (already read on here there isnt any even though I swear I read literature that it did before buying)
2- when I come down a hill and reach the bottom starting up the other side it drops about 5mph and then goes full throttle to accelerate up the hill to get back to my target speed. This is bad for efficiency and annoying.
3- when a car in front slows down the truck doesn't, it gets really close and then panic brakes, and since it's so close now that cars accelerates away but the truck waits a long time for an appropriate distance to get moving again.
So is there a way to increase reaction time or sensitivity? Someone told me you could through a scan tool but wasn't very specific. I have forscan but haven't dug through yet.
As I've stated in many other posts I know how to set the DISTANCE, but I want to know if I can change the reaction time through forscan. Thanks tho.Set the distance by using the switch with the arrows, on the left hand, between cruise on/off and the set buttons. Mine works really well. The reaction time for the emergency braking is separate from the distance keeping in the cruise control. It's set in the driver settings in the truck. If your distance is set to be closer you're likely getting close enough to activate the emergency braking system which is why yours seems so extreme. Set your distance to 2 or 3, set the emergency braking to medium and see what you get.As I've stated in many other posts I know how to set the DISTANCE, but I want to know if I can change the reaction time through forscan. I'm not hitting emergency braking. I'm not talking about emergency braking. I'm talking as I've said in other posts already that if I am going one speed and traffic normally slows down 10 mph the truck gets up their ass before it slows down. It doesn't hold the distance between us well. It's slow to react. The reaction time for the emergency braking is separate from the distance keeping in the cruise control. Then it's either set too close or your truck has a defect. That's not how the system functions. Take it back to the dealer.I'm not hitting emergency braking. I'm not talking about emergency braking. Agree with these two statements as being correct.I experience the same behavior and have frustration as the original poster.
- I am disappointed that the system does not bring the truck to a stop. Mine cuts off around 10mph - with a beep. First time that happened was an "Ohh Sh&*T" moment.
- The software seems to have some hysteresis built in leading to the harder than necessary braking. I suppose the flip side is that when the leading car momentarily slows, the overall ride is smoother. I much prefer other systems that continually match the speed.
Yes. I know what you are talking about now. I think it is normal. It seems like the higher the speed it is set for the closer it gets before braking when coming up on a much slower car. I havent tried more bars because I don’t like it to follow that far back. I get It. Is this based upon the window sticker date or the blend date on the door? My window sticker is in this date range, but the date on the door is after this. Was your Ranger built in the timeframe for TSB 21S52?
588 Ranger vehicles are affected (Production dates: JUN 05, 2021 - JUL 13, 2021)
Summary
"Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021 Ranger and Bronco vehicles. The cruise control radar module was misaligned during production."
Consequence
"A misaligned radar module may prevent the vehicle from maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles when adaptive cruise control is active. In addition, the automatic emergency braking (AEB) system may react slowly, or not react at all, during a pre-collision assist braking event. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash."
Corrective Action
"Dealers will adjust the angle of the cruise control radar module, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 7, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 21S52."
