I think most turners get rid of this if you want them to. I have 5 star tuning and they ask if you want it disabled.
From what I have heard, you can turn it off with Forscan, which I have no problem doing, but I still have a warranty and I don't want to give the dealer an excuse to deny me.

I'll probably stick with the nightlight in the rear socket for now

I just unplug this part that comes from my NEG battery and the auto start/stop never engages.
had it like this since 2020 and never a problem.

My ASS would only disable if I hit the button after each start. Recently, I hit that button after a start and ASS has been off ever since. I have no idea why that happened. I checked the battery level, checked for codes, nothing is plugged into outlets, no tow mode, etc. I have no idea why it stopped working but I am happy about it. I also noted about 1.5 MPG increase, but that may be attributable to change in seasonal gas formulations and daily route differences seasonally (we hike different trails as temps rise). I just hope it stays off.
Check your battery thoroughly.

ASS ceasing to function is kind of like the canary in the coal mine for our batteries.

Mine stopped working out of the blue a couple of years ago and I had to replace my battery soon after.

disconnect the small plug from the battery. put tape over it for corrosion. the small connector is the start/stop. just unplug it. no more start stop. just dash indicator but inop.
That works, but it also completely turns off the BMS, Battery Management System. Which many people are fine with.

I just replaced my battery a month ago, then again i got my Ranger in 2019 so it lasted almost 6 years.

That was my first thought, so I pulled out my battery tester and ran the tests, it indicated it was good. I also have a Ctek charger that I occasionally hook up to the battery. The plug that is hard wired to the battery has an LED that indicates voltage level and it always is blinking green, even after just a short drive. I agree that these days with the modern BMS, 3-4 years seems like a good target life expectancy, so I may pop it out and take it down to NAPA and have them do a load test as well. It its a real headscratcher.

You should a tester that tests for internal resistance (IR). Very valuable information for determining battery condition. Modern testers can check battery health without loading it.

The tester I have does test for IR. The unit I bought a while back was top rated by Project Farm among many. It gave my battery a clean bill of health.

I decided that @Dr. Zaius likely was on to something as short of another malfunction in the ASS system, it almost certainly was the battery. I hooked my CTEK charger up and put it in conditioning mode and recharged the truck overnight. This morning on our drive out to the trailhead, ASS was back. So clearly my battery is on its last legs.

This site is so helpful.

I haven't seen any posts on facebook or here yet that there is now an option in your truck settings to uncheck your "Automatic Engine Off".

I guess I can give my kid back his night light that I have had plugged in to the back outlet of the truck to prevent the automatic stop/start...
Here you go!

My solution took 2 seconds to prep, 2 seconds to install, reversible if desired, and was 100% free. An old out of date phone charger with the cord cut off plugged into the 120V outlet.

Just let the voltage regulator handle the battery charging just like it has been done for the last 100 yrs. Don't need no stinkin computer brain to control battery charge! Wet cell batteries prefer to be charged to near 100%, not 70% per the BMS to save a quarter of a mile per gallon.
