A/C recirculating button turns itself off all the time, how do I fix this?

It is temperature and humidity controlling it - By owner's manual, If Max AC is selected then the Auto movement of the door is disabled, but I recall that is not the case for some owners, it still moves on its own, thus still automatically controlled.
By design it's automatically controlled, when you press the button or sync screen icon (Recirc) the door closes (Button-Lighted) and (Icon-Highlighted), - (Recirculation Air -On) sometimes the system will not let you select it and if it does allow it, it sets a 5-Minute timer and opens it back up after 5 minutes have elapsed.

So, if you are experiencing the opposite then the Humidity/Temp sensor is forcing it back closed, due to the system design to cool the cab down quicker. (Hotter-Temps)
During cooler weather, it is the opposite, due to humidity in the cab air (Window Fogging) prevention. Have you ever noticed your breath can fog up the windows fairly quickly when its cold.?

So we have the experts here, but my .$04 on the matter is I'd rather have it open on shutdown to allow any moisture to evaperate during idle periods. While driving, by the time I smell the bad incoming air, I'm probably through it and want the fresh air in. But, I'm not in areas of wild fires or other congested areas and also used to driving open vehicles where there is no option other than driving faster to get through it.

I really think it’s a frequency of in and out per day plus internal temperature. I work and live in OC CA. Go to work in the morning, go to lunch and back to work then go home. A quite boring routine. Maybe the OP has a very aggressive/interaction with his truck that triggers other things. IDK… RH is 50% average, maybe excessive use raises the internal RH to tropical levels above 70% RH with self body moisture etc..This is probably common in Atlanta but not in phoenix if you get my drift. The truck is just saying “I’m not going to fog the windows “ for safety purposes unless you say it’s ok”.

It’s trying to expel that moisture.. Personally I say let it do it’s job so your truck doesn’t become BO smelling and manually recirculate when needed… no judgement here..

Ok that’s a lie, you may be stinky and sweaty from being on a roof, an occupational hazard. Your truck is trying its best to keep things tame. Hey a couple of good friends of mine are roofers and it can get a bit gamey having a few beers with them after work.. truly no judgement at that.

I have the exact opposite problem. I try to turn it off and it keeps coming back on. I don’t want recirculating mode unless on demand. Also socal.

agreed........it should be the user's choice as to whether you want it on or off.......not the manufacturer......I don't remember ANY of my previous trucks (Mostly Tacos of all years) kicking off the recirculation mode by itself....

Imagine driving by the large dairy farms in Chino, CA on a nice hot day smelling their "waste" and not being able to block the outside air.....YUCK!

agreed........it should be the user's choice as to whether you want it on or off.......not the manufacturer......I don't remember ANY of my previous trucks (Mostly Tacos of all years) kicking off the recirculation mode by itself....

I'm not a roofer......I own a roofing company......30 plus years in business......not a tobacco chewing, tar covered, sweat ball of a laborer in a beat-up old truck with his wife and 2 dogs tagging along......I own the business and I do the sales and marketing......I do drive all over SO CA looking at roofs and selling new roofs......damn good at it and tons of raving 5-star reviews all over the internet......but yes I'm in and out of my truck all day and want it to be not only cool.....but not interested in smelling outside irritants like cig or pot smoke (yes it's everywhere and especially noticeable at a stoplight) or exhaust fumes.....like driving through the Long Beach or LA port area.....or smelling cow waste driving by the huge dairies in Chino......it should be MY choice how to use the A/C and not the manufacture........it wasn't like this in the cars of years ago.....you turned on the A/C and the recirculation button and it stayed on.......when it fogged up you turned it off or open a window.......simple......they act like they "have" to do this because us drivers can't think or act for ourselves or we don't know what to do when the windows fog up.........the A/C actually helps defrost the windows in the winter time and in rainy conditions......it use it for that all the time....kinda sick of all the "nanny" crap in the new trucks.......keep lane assist shakes the steering wheel when it "thinks" I'm crossing a solid line on the road when it's actually not the case or road construction or whatever and no way to turn it off.....I could go on forever with this crap......

I love 1/2 & 1/2 in my coffee and sour cream is yummy but the cow "waste" smell in the summertime is unbearable!.....glad I live in South Orange County , CA pretty close to the beach......only the smell of fresh air and ocean breezes.....
