The new rack is 4" taller. I have 7" of clearance at the back of the tent and 8" at the front, but the ladder is only 3.5". I have a 7' door, and I will be 1/2" shy with the ladder on. I am going to get something like this so I can pull the ladder to slide out of the garage and back in. Once the ladder is off, I have no issues getting in and out of the garage, so it should be once per trip to remove. My driveway is at a slight angle too, so that is why the back and front have different clearances.
Oooh I gotcha makes sense then

I have made a lot of changes to the truck. The original post was updated and reformatted. Short list of updates:
  • RCI skids
  • RCI bed rack
  • Prinsu roof rack
  • Decked drawers

Some additional pictures because... everyone loves pictures.

This is a great build thread. I noticed that you changed tires a few times. I'm curious about what you thought of the LT255/80R17 AT3. Is there a reason you switched to the LT285/75R17 KO2s?

Thanks! Still a work in progress but its fun.

I had 285/70r17 KO2s as my first replacement tire, but they were too big for my setup at the time, so I dropped them down to 265/70r17 KO2s. Then I stepped up to 255/80r17 ATIIIs. After I modified a few more things, I jumped to 285/75r17 TAIIIs.

I am currently running the Toyos. I really like the KO2s, and wouldn't hesitate to run them again, but the ATIIIs are a fantastic tire too. Great all around. It comes down to preference. The ATIIIs were a bit cheaper when I bought my 285/75r17s, so I went with them. Does that answer your question?

Thanks much. I installed the Eibach Pro Truck 2 with rear reservoirs and SPC UCAs on my truck yesterday. I adjusted them to a 2.5" lift overall since the rear Global Leaf springs I installed raised the rear almost an inch. I'm fairly confident that 285/70s would fit on stock wheels and a 1" spacer, but I like the idea of a narrower tread. I guess I'm wondering how you would compare 255s to the 285s. I was considering the 255/75r17 KO2 with a 32" height, but the 255/80 AT3 can give me another inch in height. I just may be overthinking it

I would go the 285 over 255 all day. It’s a more aggressive look and I prefer it. Nothing wrong with the 255. Mine are also 34” instead of the 33”.

I do appreciate the input, thanks! If I had my way, I would go with the 34-10.50r17 KO2. Way too expensive though!

255/80r17 is 33x10
285/70r17 is 33x11
285/75r17 is 34x11

It all comes down to what you want. The 255 handled great but, IMO, just didn't fit the look of my truck that I was going for. My next tires will be a true 35", but that will take some additional work to get them to fit, so... its going to be awhile.

I added a Course Motorsports phone mount. I noticed that when my phone was under the dash, I had GPS signal issues. Being up in clear line of sight should give me solid GPS signal for offroad navigation.

I moved the ARB single air compressor from the engine bay to the Decked ammo can. I used the Power Trays ARB chuck relocation kit to run the compressor to the outside of the ammo can. I can run the setup with the lid on.

I knew after the last time I had the grille off that the next time would be my last. I did a *ridiculous* amount of wiring on the truck and had to remove the grille. Replaced with a Raptor grille.

Below is the best way to show what I did. The video sucks, but its not that long. I installed the LightForce facia with CH4x4 switches. It looks super clean in person.

Went camping with @AndyMedic a couple weeks ago. It was a short trip because it snowed and my wife wasn't having it...

IMG_2444.jpg

We tried to run a trail in the morning. Did not go well. You can see in the first picture (below) that the snow is almost to the driver mirror. I got stuck twice. Once Andy could pull me out, once I had to winch. We made it ~1/4 mile into the trail before we turned around and went home.
