What's more important, ethanol-free or octane level?

Our local stations have 87-91 with ethanol OR 88 with no ethanol. Thoughts?
Due to turbo, the higher octane rating is better. Ethanol is simply not good for a engine designed specifically for std gasoline.

10-15% ethanol won't hurt it if you don't let it sit for long periods of time (Ethanol absorbs water in the air and goes "rancid" essentially). I do know from my last vehicle that ethanol free gas lasts longer (More MPG's!!!) than anything with Ethanol blended in. I used to get Ethanol free gas (as shown by my aftermarket flex sensor) from Meijer (basically a Kroger or Giant Eagle for the non-midwesterners among us), and I would get about 5% gain in mpg. People tuning for "mad power" often run E85 or E30 as alcohol has a cooling effect, and increases the octane rating of the fuel to roughly 108 octane (E85). The catch is you burn 30% more fuel to obtain the same amount of energy.

That is impressive. I wonder what it does to the mileage?
Don’t know but it seems you are using more gas at higher rpms. Maybe they will give us a reading..
