I find it funny lots of people say they wish cars were all still square body's but then don't like this? I think it looks great.

I think it will sell like crazy, especially at the 40k price for the 2wd version

people complain because all the modern vehicles look the same, and people complain when someone does something different. I say, good on them for doing something different.

A more traditional look may have pleased the general public but every other electric maker already has that conventional truck. The right way to stand out is to be different

Of all these electric trucks I think the Bollinger B2 is best looking but not for 150k hand-built truck and no charging network similar to tesla's

I'll take the 50k Cybertruck anyday

I'm with you, people are forgetting that Tesla is offering heavy-duty truck specs (if true!) for mid-size truck money. Best part is you're not putting $500 a month of gas into your truck anymore.

My wife drives a lot for work so we got her a model 3 and she put 30,000 miles in 7 months on the car.

It added about $100 to $150 a month to my electricity bill and i'm even on tiered rates...yet, that will help immensely
so 7 months x 150/month = $1050

Gas lets say at 30mpg for average car
30,000 miles / 30mpg = 1000 gallons

it's 2.37/gal near me so woulda have cost $2370 in gas.

The only other maintenance performed was rotating the tires in the driveway and added wiper fluid so 1 hour of my time and $1.25 for fluid.

My next vehicle is going to be electric. Gas is consistently $3.5-4 a gallon for regular here in CA, so the break even point is even easier.

Goal is to pay off the Ranger in 4 years, then look at replacing my Corolla with a Model 3/Mach E/Bolt.

I'm with ya. Was trying to hold out and limp my old ranger along but it crapped out to many times so I got a 2019 Ranger. Get that paid off real quick so I can get solar installed before the CyberTruck is released. That should bring my electric costs to $0/month

But how much did you pay for the vehicle (not including the subsidies / government discount)... vs a comparable traditional gas powered vehicle and how long before the entire battery pack needs to be replaced?

"The cheapest version, a single motor and rear-wheel drive model, will cost $39,900, have a towing capacity of 7,500 pounds and more than 250 miles of range. The middle version will be a dual-motor all-wheel drive, have a towing capacity of more than 10,000 pounds and be able to travel more than 300 miles on a single charge. The dual motor AWD model is priced at $49,900."

I paid $30 grand for my 4 wheel drive Ranger... the bottom of the line Cybertruck is 10 grand more than our Ranger and that version of the Cybertruck is a 2WD. Want 4WD? The comparable Cybertruck is 20 grand more than a Ranger.

You fella's gotta remember to evaluate your return on investment you have to look at the entire picture, not just a piece of it.

dual motor at 50k is 10k more than sticker for a lariat ranger with tow package but also gives you more 2500 more pounds tow capacity and of course way more space. 6 seats and 6.5 foot bed

50k dual motor is equivalent to f150 in purchase cost but its electric having very little maintenance costs and cheaper to refuel. also tesla are fun as hell to drive.

I should have solar next summer and be able to fully provide enough energy to power house and charge 2 electric vehicles driven over 300 miles a day.

I've done the math. We have cheaper electric costs in kansas and my wife and I both drive alot living in country but working in the city. The Model 3 has halved my vehicle costs/month even after paying the loan payment. On top of that Tesla's are safest vehicles in a crash. They have lots of great technology inside and Autopilot is the incredible for long trips on highway.

There's lots of tesla's our there pushing 400 to 500k miles but not original battery packs. There are some with over 250k and still on original batteries and going strong. I found 1 article with a model x with 350k miles on original battery

You said somewhere that you couldn't wait for the pictures, and that this pic was just a guess as to how it would look. Had we only known how much worse it could get...

After watching people like Rich Rebuilds on youtube, I can say it's squarely safe to assume that every single tesla with more than 50K is at best on it is on it's second set of motors, or will be as soon as you buy it second hand. There's nothing special about a Tesla, bearings wear out, things break, the state of their "parts department" is shameful at best (See the "thrifty three" series by TFLCar on youtube". 100% guarantee that the truck's range will be 7% of the stated amount while towing at or near it's capacity... It's just math, there is no such battery capable of that type of energy storage yet. To make it more clear, Tesla themselves has recently stopped selling certified pre-owned due to the maintenance costs their cars incur after being customer "owned" for short amounts of time. They still sell Used, but they've dropped the CPO program.

Hi Chance,

What you are saying is that the energy density of batteries is no where as dense as good ol' petrol...they may get there in the future, but even the most efficient batteries pale by comparison. The other thing no one states is that our electrical infrastructure cannot support the electrical demand. All electric vehicles do is move the pollution to the electric power generation...Coal, Natural Gas or nuclear..and we have so few nuclear plants to support this. My street has underground electrical and three or more Tesla charging in their garage will compromise our street's power needs....

Best,

dont forget solar, and wind, although i'm sure they add to the grid, they arent up to the task of powering millions more cars.

have the birds got a say in windmills yet? they should. hundreds die daily

We have a 200 acre solar array in my town, I can assure you it didn’t change the wires going down the neighborhoods, and my electric costs just go up to cover the losses that maintaining a solar farm cause. We are also in corn country, so there are 100’s of windmills which only show up in my bill as a renewable energy tax “credit”. Most houses get 200-300a at 230v it takes an act of god to change what comes into a house.
