I'm away for work right now but I fly home tomorrow. When I get home I will upload a video to the thread but I thought I would get this posted early to capture some user insight. Here is the issue and the conditions to replicate:
Symptom: Clattering noise. Similar to a rod bearing knock or piston slap type of metallic clatter noise
1. At operating temperature
2. light to moderate throttle application
3. Just before engine shifts from 1st to 2nd, over 2700rpm (It happens in other gears, this is just where I hear it the most)
I've had the truck since July and its been making this noise since. I bought it used, it still has powertrain warranty for another thousand miles (I have an extended through a third party thereafter, but I want to catch this under OEM powertrain wty if I can)
It will not produce the noise if the engine is not loaded. If youre in park and you just rev the engine, it will not do it. Must be loaded. I had the shop foreman of my local dealer take it for a spin and he claims he did not hear anything. I was again out of town for work and left it with them, so I spent $135.00 for a half hour of no-fault found diagnostics.
Do any of you hear a noise that can be explained with these conditions? Again I will post a video tomorrow when I am back home.
