24-hours in the hospital, walked out on my own. The chp and helo crew couldn.t believe I was alive. Pit maneuvered @ 70mph by a reckless driver Head-on into the side of a hill and flipped three times. The Ranger is gone now, and I need to decide if replacing it and modifying it to replace the last ranger is worth it. Those Rangers are built TUFF, other than two front flat tires the health report is good!

50+years of racing motorcycles I'm use to the ER. The hidden winch still worked and the engine started and no check engine light. They built these Rangers right. I was hoping to check if the a/c still blew cool but the insurance company towed if off before I could get back to the yard. On to the next vehicle whatever that might be.

Have no complaints on that Ranger, Miss my V-8 Raptor other than washing-waxing it twice a week! I'm getting too old to go through another build and maybe a Ranger Raptor will eliminate some garage time.? But I'm stupid and old so who knows.
No big deal, home hanging out. Last time in em was during a dirt bike race, lapping slower riders in the dust. Had to wait for my buddy to finish the race and drive me to the hospital (6-hours later before arriving). Doctor said it's too late to repair anything gtfo. Thats my life.

Unless you're doing an extreme build I don't think the Ranger Raptor needs much from what I've seen. The side steps are useless it looks like but other that, maybe better tires, they seem to be an awesome rig.

Hit and run, the bill is on me. I'm use to it not a life changer. Heading out to do some shooting with buddies at the trap range pretty much just a normal Tuesday. Weird hearing the chp officer and paramedics in the em saying I'm probable fatal then walking out on my own the next day.
What kind of person does that and runs?

One thing for a parking lot ding, but still wrong, But to send a pickup truck flying and not giving a care about a person's life (not to say what if there were four of you in the truck).

I'm glad you're okay and hope that she faces karma soon! Maybe a Tacoma will take her out!

Damn impressive about you walking out - that's some superhero stuff!

First of all, I’m so glad that you’re OK! That is amazing but you actually sound like a pretty amazing person TBH!!

I won’t go over everything, but I just think that CHP needs to step up the professionalism. WTF, saying that kind of stuff where sometimes people are in a position that the will to live and belief in it will actually make it happen, versus believing they are done, and sort of making it a self fulfilling prophecy. It sounds like you are the type who knows that you can get it done, so our stubborn in the best of ways… And that goes with surviving one hell of an ordeal as well! My hat is off to you!

In addition: That’s one hell of a testament to the Ranger! Just like someone else said, I would locate that person! I am disgusted with the general inability for people to take accountability and own their mistakes. She didn’t wanna crash into you but the fact is that she did and she could have killed you! This is a societal issue unfortunately.

Forensic camera tools should be able to figure out exactly who did that, as long as you have the color and an idea of make and model. I know this isn’t a murder investigation, so they aren’t gonna put together a team and go do that but it is possible.

But in the end, the important part is that you made it out alive, and it sounds like you’re actually no worse for the wear! That’s incredible!

If it’s not too much, can you describe the experience? (such as did you realize that this is going to be a bad thing, and then there it goes… Or did your brain protect you and sort of shut off that part of memory). And don’t worry if it’s a bit heavy and you don’t want to!

I only have the audacity to ask, because we are similar… I would be over checking out the truck and the AC, etc. just like you! I’ve gone through an injury where I broke my neck at C2/C3, an unfortunately it bruised my spine and totally swelled so I had no movement from the neck down for a little bit and no breathing on my own…

Anyways, pretty much full recovery but I have a hell of a time regulating my temperature so when it hits 105 here in the Norcal Valley, it is a killer! Also, my right arm is still not completely innervated, so it’s a little tight and a little weak. And since it took a while, I just converted to left-handed… Now I’m pretty ambidextrous but still the left now has to dominate, but that doesn’t stop me from doing my projects! Hell, I was out wake surfing within a year of getting out of the hospital and inpatient rehab combo, and probably eight months or so out from when I took my first steps again. What an ordeal but feels like a blip now.

There were some town deaf idiots;the equivalent of the CHP saying fatal… I had these know it all doctors go to the statistics chart and basically say I’m not going to ever breathe or pretty much get anything back. Now, I would seriously challenge them, any of them, to a strength competition. It’s amazing how our bodies adapt, especially when we are stubborn ass MFers, as I am! And I wouldn’t be afraid to get into it with the worst of the worst, especially when I got to come back and show them how full of shit they were!

Some scary stuff but ‘we’ prevail when we are stubborn and won’t take no for an answer!

That is intense!! I’m seriously so happy for this outcome! You sound like a pretty awesome person! It’s clear!

I wish you all the best and I hope whatever you choose, you absolutely love it in terms of the vehicle!!

All I remember is seeing a baby in a car seat and cranking the wheel right into the side of a hill. Woke up in the emergency room with a dozen people working on me. CHP and helo-crew saying that this should have been a fatal accident. Wife and son showed up, doctor came in told the staff to remove the neck brace, all we found is arthritis in the right knee and a damaged T1 vert from a motorcycle accident in 2005. Dr said I had to wait for a mri and release by the dr before going home. Down to one vehicle and a motorcycle, been riding anyway against my wife's wishes. Life goes on.

No, some soccer mom almost missed her exit. Helicopter ride was pretty cool anyway.

Still have a fairly new motorcycle and a year-old Outback wilderness, no rush to replace the ranger.
Glad your ok. Did soccer mom get a citation? Edit Did not notice above posts. Still glade your good

No, she made her exit and drove on. Crazy drivers out there with no concern for human life. I don't really care anymore, after the third trip to the er I gave up racing mc's. That policy hasn't kept me out of the er. Might have to get back into it. Waiting for the dealer to order a Raptor, might just be the ticket.

And you’re right, life goes on! What happens, we can’t control but we just do what we can to move on and not let it change the trajectory!

On another topic, I do see the appeal of the raptor! I just saw one all black with black tinted windows and I believe it might’ve been lifted further but either way it was pretty awesome looking!

I’m still in disbelief that the lady would just drive on (I guess I would be wrong to think a mother and nurturing instincts might have her stop. Selfish does not even begin to explain that one)…

Karma might be real and if so, she might be in for a world of hurt and I hope it has nothing to do with her kid (I really do I’m not being twisted)! Unfortunately, there are way too many like her… Society needs to start doing the right thing as a whole! That means owning up and no more blame game or pulling some sort of sympathy card!

You take care, you’ve been through the ringer!

Zero complaints about the RANGER. The Neurologist said gtfo, no wheelchair ride, just walk out you sob. Made me feel normal, zero respect from anyone.
Glad you were unscathed. Defying the odds is awesome! I came down with Guillain-Barre syndrome in January and returned to work in nine weeks. Some people spend longer than that in the hospital. Beating the odds is a good thing! Now, that new Raptor..... ?

Just changed the oil. no service ever from any dealer (retired master mechanic). No payments, cash only buyer. So, looking at a dealer for a Raptor tomorrow. We've thought about going down to one vehicle for a few years, now may be the time. Still don't know I escaped pretty much unscathed, some pain in the back and right hand from the steering wheel but nothing like several dirt bike racing accidents. Life can really be weird.
