totally true. if he is sued he should counter sue for people being stupid and annoying... people have been customizing cars and putting labels on stuff since the first cars rolled out. and for the raptor grills, geez move on people. it was cool on the first couple raptors now its about as fresh as a meatball sub a taxi driver lost between the seats. its been over done on many brands and models and its no longer cool. they sell kits for the toycoma even.
This becomes a very grey area. The OP putting custom leather seats in his truck, or even copying a color scheme does not make it a "KING RANCH" Ranger. Neither does putting in floor mats which he bought from King Ranch. His truck is copying the King Ranch style. Where the issue comes is if he would put the "KING RANCH" name or "BRAND", which I am sure are trademarked symbols on his truck. It really doesn't matter if he is trying to sell it or not. It could be construde as representing the trademark holder. Make it look like one OK, just don’t label it as one. Granted some companies are more agressive than others in prtecting their trademarks.
i get you on the trademark "Brand" thing. we take Brands seriously. however, in this case the trademark as well as the representation of the Brand has been offered to be used by ford from the registered trade mark owner for consumer items. the fact that it depicts the King Brand / running w, which is registered in the county / counties where the King group has stock etc. will make no difference. His truck will never be sold or traded as livestock or farm and ranch equipment and cannot be confused as such. so the TSWCRA and it's Rangers and county or counties will not touch any case about it. they would likely laugh or be annoyed for wasted time.
In the end, the OP’s going to do what he wants and will likely badge the heck out of it with King Ranch badges where they are usually placed and it’s going to look great and he’s going to be super stoked about what he’s done/doing.It looks great. I like it.
The stuff about "labels" and "brands" is meaningless. If you buy King Ranch truck accessories and add-ons then they are, most likely, properly licensed already so no problem there. Also, these King Ranch truck accessories and add-ons have been put on a TRUCK ( oh the horror!). So what?
As it has been already mentioned, unless he would try to sell it and say it's a Ford Ranger model then it's "good to go". Sheesh!
