I still believe, that while you're proud of your knock off Ford Ranger King Ranch....tread lightly with your use of trade marks related to KR.
I think if you're not careful, you either will slide under the radar (hard to do publicly on a forum), or you will find a legal dispute on your hands
I really think you are way out in left field. To the Op, keep going, looks great.

not yet...his seats didnt get the logo, but he wanted it on there.
he's being vague about his tailgate.
a KR tailgate has the logo, and the name....how he can build a KR tailgate and avoid either of those trademarks is impossible

the connection is obvious.
KR licenses the F150 through Ford.
A reasonable copy as a Ranger, is outside of that licensing...and thus the grey area, and the reason why I'm playing ball...I'm not out in left field blowing dandelion fluff around.

Do I care if the OP gets sued....nope....but I might be a big enough dick to send King Ranch the link to this thread just to see if I won the ball game or struck out.
It is ridiculous the think what the Op is doing is infringement:
1. Floor mats came from a Licensed dealer. He can use them whereever he want
2. He is not using any of this for Commerce or income or advertisement
3. Even if he makes the tail gate function like the KR, that does not violate any Trade mark agreement in USA (as long as, see #2) and has not stolen any design from the holder of the Trademark or patent.

See the following for USA trade mark infringement:

as i said, its a grey area.

would you be able to stand up in a court and argue that this thread is not advertising when a simple google search for Ranger King Ranch brings up this thread?

And for your point #1, i wasn't referring to his purchased licensed products. I was projecting my opinion on how he was going to create his tailgate. Just like I cant make my own shoe and call it Nike, I'm sure the courts would agree that he cant mimic the King Ranch name or logo unless he has entered an agreement with them as Ford has done.

I'm happy to sit in the sidelines and watch this play out....I'm no lawyer, but I am happy to stir the pot.
I suggest you read up on the law . The OP is NOT advertising to sell any goods or make a profit .

Sometimes I think people post just to be negative and get a reaction . You're way in left field .

In your mind , all the people that do this are in deep doo doo , LMAO .

You can certainly make your own shoe and call it Nike . You just can't sell them .

Okay just so I can ease this conversation as best I can I'm going to say this:
I don't intend to market or sell this truck or any of the products I make for it.
I will use king ranch logos and branding only where it can be used on products I personally purchased from the King ranch website.
I'm still working on it but rest assured my mind is only on the best interest of my truck and my build so that it looks as quality and aesthetically pleasing as possible.
If it's ghetto or garbage I won't do it and if it's going to get me sued I won't do it.
I'll go into the details on the tailgate later after supper but I'm kinda busy so hold tight. Until then, please keep faith eh?

I think your King Ranch tribute Ranger is awesome, and I certainly wouldn’t lose any sleep over a fear of getting sued.

Like many others here, I’m not a lawyer, but I do work for a huge corporation. One thing I know from my experience is that no big company (like Ford or King Ranch) likes bad press. Can you imagine the kind of bad press and negative social media attention that King Ranch would get if they were to sue you for trademark infringement over legally buying their logos to put on your truck?

I think they’d be more likely to offer to give you a free tour of the ranch rather than trying to sue you.

Just don’t start making parts with their logo to sell to others and don’t start a side business converting other people’s Rangers or other vehicles to King Ranch versions, and you should have nothing to worry about.

I guess you're all lawyers huh?

some inside scoop thats worth more than your opinions.
If that were true then 1/3 of the members here would be sued for having a Raptor grille. Heck even the ones selling them are not getting sued. lol

In Canada.....you're guilty of it.

most if not all of those grills are said to be "raptor style", the wording is key, and the end users hopefully aren't passing their vehicles off as Raptors when they sell them later. Not so sure the OP will be able to control the urge to brand it the "King Ranch Ranger" when he lists it for sale on Autotrader.

You all know i don't wish bad things to happen to the OP, and you're all free to keep trying to twist my concerns into something that it isn't. Either way, I wont back down as the risk is there for him. remember, we had a guy wanting to start a class action lawsuit on our own pages. Anythings possible.
you're all hypothesizing as much as me. A broken clock is right at least twice a day.
Then the OP can say he has "King Ranch Style" seats and he's covered. :like:?
