A lot has to do with your driving habits and the terrain. Any time you're into the turbo and/or going up steep inclines you'll get worse mileage. It's hard to drive these truck "normal" but if you do you can get good gas mileage out of them. Yes the special damper does help too. ?How is everyone getting such great gas mileage I only get 14.9mpg has been the same for a year and a half now (15k miles ) on my truck.
Juicedratic equations!Plus e=mc2 and i average about 19.2 on my ford Ranger. Xlt 2wheel drive
Yeah I guess this isn't helping either ?A lot has to do with your driving habits and the terrain. Any time you're into the turbo and/or going up steep inclines you'll get worse mileage. That's insane... I made a trip up to Arkansas last weekend from DFW... with the 20-30mph wind at my back I was getting 21.8 mpg... coming home was another story with the headwind... 18.9 mpg. I was going 75 mph in most stretches on hwy 30.That's what all the bad fuel mileage people say. haha
BTW, I get 26-28mpg on the highway and 23-25mpg commuting to work in the summer. Winter is a different story but for obvious reasons.
Is this a real thing??!?Try turning off trailer sway. its on 24/7 even when not towing. I turned it off in an F150 and gained 4mpg while heading down the highway
I don't think anyone actually ever confirmed that this was the case.Is this a real thing??!?
I've found pretty consistently that 70mph is about that line where you start to see a significant dropoff. I can cruise around 65-68 and get mid-20s easily, but as soon as I hit 70, I struggle to stay above 20.I should be clear that by "highway" I mean 55-60mph, which is what most roads are around here, certainly the ones we travel on. The faster you go from there, the worse the mileage will be just because of bad aerodynamics. On the one freeway anywhere near us, traveling at 75mph, mine will drop down to 22-23mpg or so. But we don't do that very often.
No, the sway control does not affect mpg. One of my trips from San Antonio to Waxahachie, I deactivated it with no change in mpg. Once I got to the hotel, I pulled the manual out and it states that when sway control is engaged, an icon will illuminate on the dash. You would have to have some serious cross wind for it to activate without a trailer attached. Is this a real thing??!?
