Air filter is good. I change it regularly because they're cheap to do and because of the dust.

Remember recirculating air is going to be colder than using outside air. Also I didn't mention I have manual a/c.

I am nearly always on recirculation air.

I use a standard HVAC stick just shoved in the vent.
never really had any issues with A/C or Heat, knock on wood ....

Remembering that we have a meat thermometer, I stuck that in the vent on the way to work this morning, outside temp was 95* at 0520. Meat thermometer just would not go below 60* on recirculated air while driving 72 mph.

On the way home I stopped at AutoZone and got a thermometer and stuck it in the vent with the Meat thermometer. 114* outside temp on the way home.

Both thermometers would not go below 60*, so based on the chart posted earlier this is about as good as I can expect. I WANT to say it used to be cooler during summer months but maybe that's just a fig Newton of my imagination.

Anyway, interesting to note that upon leaving from work the meat thermometer registered just a bit above 140*. Toasty.

Hopefully not but there could be a potential leak in the AC where the refrigerant level could be low. It could be other things like a fan clutch starting to fail and not cool as much air. Better yet there could just be a bunch of dirt and dust stuck in the condenser and radiator. At least wash them out and see what happens. Don't be surprised if the AC is cold for a brief moment when you're washing the condenser and radiator.

If you could post what your - AC Pressure Switch (PID) is reading at Idle and 1500 RPMs or while driving- we can see if its low or a condenser issue - just to get a base idea of system operation

I don't possess the tools necessary to give that kind of information, and am not sure that even if I did that I would be intelligent enough to find what you've just asked for. But thanks so much for trying to be helpful. You've done a LOT for forum members here and we appreciate you!

The least you should do is get a set of gauges on it to see if it is low on refrigerant or if they show that there is a malfunction component .

Chris, FWIW we are also going through the "Extreme Heat Warning" with temps between 110-115 here in Vegas as well and I've noticed the Truck seems to not be able to produce cool enough air to cool the cabin when the temps are at the extreme. End of last week we had monsoon rains and temperatures dropped to 87 for a few days and I noticed the AC was nice and cool again...

I don't know if the heat is putting extra strain on the AC equipment or what but I felt it's worth it to note I'm seeing similar symptoms over here.

So much "F that" in those numbers. It's why I haven't been to AZ since 1988.
