Does anybody's tailgate almost touch the black part of their rear bumper at the fender end? I went to the dealer body shop about it when my truck was still under the 3 yr bumper to bumper warranty. They said they were all that way or worse. I am kicking myself for not pursuing it further.

Now I want to get a tailgate lighter and think this is an issue.

They're all like this and someone pointed this out in a few other threads. It looks like there's barely enough room between the two for one to fit and still be able to lower the tailgate and not pinch the light bar. I have small fingers and can barely get my finger in there.

I have this back up light attached to the license plate and it gets hit by the tailgate. Fortunately, there is a lot of flexibility in the center and it pushes in easily so I just went with it.

Any chance you could attach it to the bottom of the plate and run the wires behind the plate?

I could but it seems to be OK. I didn't notice it for the first couple of months and no damage. It only moves a little bit. Full length lights would be an issue

I did manage to install a full length tailgate light bar, and the tailgate would just barely touch it when open!
But, after a few months of use, it started to give me too many errors regarding trailer lights, back up lights etc.
So, I just unplugged it, and errors all stopped.
Not sure the brand of the tailgate light, as it was a gift to me.

Just food for thought!
