Link to article below, I found the article relevant as on Monday suffered a 4 hr delay due to an accident that closed I-70 near Palisade CO, the speed limit is 60 there owing to curves but many drives are doing 70 mph. The likely cause of the accident was excessive speed, it was a van and the driver was ejected and critically injured. Being over 70 I generally obey speed limits but so many vehicles speed , some folks speeding while distracted and others just aren't experienced and/or skilled drivers excerpt from the article :

" Vehicles are faster than ever. Pickups now accelerate like old Corvettes. Family SUVs routinely produce 300 horsepower or more without anyone even blinking anymore. Yet American roads also continue dealing with a worsening speeding problem that contributed to more than 11,000 traffic deaths in 2024 alone, accounting for roughly 29 percent of all roadway fatalities nationwide. 11,000+ traffic deaths.
Clearly its the automobiles fault.
Time to severely regulate and or ban high-capacity vehicles (vans and SUV's).
Just sayin...there's things some folks will take a hard look at and some things folks won't, while the whole time ignoring personal actions and responsibilities of the PEOPLE behind the catastrophic events.

I don't see the s/ for sarcasm but I'm hoping this is. Especially when the next paragraph contradicts it and I agree with. Plus I've had insomnia again and only slept 4 hours so my brains not functioning right.

Back in the day muscle cars came off the showroom floor pushing 400+ hp and yet death weren't as bad as they are today. Sure there were accidents but most weren't as brutal as they are now. You'd always see a select few driving over the speed limit but now that's all I see especially here in AZ. Our speed limits are 75 (85 in some places) and I'll get passed like I'm standing still and not by just 1-2 cars but a whole line of them. We have a people problem! Just like guns don't kill it's the person using the gun and the person behind the wheel.....that's the problem!

You mean to say that if I'm towing my 7000 lb trailer with my 5500 lb suv with 400 hp at 80 mph in a 70 mph zone and I'm in a booboo I can't blame it on the vehicle ?????
Are you out of your mind.....of course it's the vehicle's fault !!!!!

Yes, there is sarcasm involved here...in the first 2 sentences. The rest of my post speaks to the lack of personal responsibility involved with the handling of inanimate objects like weapons or cars and the inability of lawmakers to squarely put blame where blame belongs.

I guess I should have used better phrasing. My apologies.

I thought so and I know you (much) better than to think we should ban everything.

Besides you know how my sleep has been these last couple weeks so I wasn't all there this morning. Not that I am most other times. 🙃🤓

It's time for people to have personal accountability. Everybody wants to blame something else, instead of saying "I fucked up". Cars are not the problem, people are the problem.
