Battery finally puked yesterday. Original from 2019 so it did pretty well I'd say. No out of pocket since the transmission rebuild netted me 77,000 Ford Pass points even if I originally had to buy the extended warranty so there's that. The kid replaced it but told me it won't start was going to have another tech come to the house and look at it but I go in and put my foot on the brake and BINGO it started right up. We had a good laugh and he told me he used to shuttle cars all over the lot for the dealer and that it was the first Ranger with a key that needed to have the brake pedal pressed to start. I must do it unconciously cause I had to think about that for a minute. Anyway all is well at least for today

Hey Mike, that’s weird because my 2020 does not require the break to be depressed to start, thus remote start 🤷

I thought all cars have a brake interlock switch that needs to be pressed with the pedal to start. Same with manual the clutch pedal needs to be pressed in. Never used it, but even after remote start don’t you have to press the brake pedal and push button start?

Yes, and you need to have the fob.

I am guessing all the push to start Rangers need the brake depressed.
By not pressing the brake, pushing the button puts it in Accessory mode.
Mine needs the key and I can start it without the brake. But you need to depress the brake pedal to put it in gear.

If I catch it before the remote start times out it only needs a touch on the start button as long as the key is found. Usefull on a cold winter day to save on battery discharge.
If it times out and stops then starting needs brake pedal depressed.

My 22 has key start and no need for brake. For some reason, I think my 19 did need the brake pedal depressed. It has been a while though.

My 22 is exactly like that. Key start and you don't need the brake pedal depressed.
