Reason I ask is because I'm in the middle of TRYING to get a Grainer ESP and if it's a waste (which I didn't think it was) I'll not go forward. I'm getting a little annoyed as well. I started this over a week ago, filled out everything online and got an email "We're working on registering your plan to your vehicle and a team member will contact you soon" and I haven't herd anything back yet. I even PM'd @Zach@granger and no reply. My factory warranty expires on the 20th and I'm trying to avoid having to have an inspection done to get an ESP. More so for the hassle than anything.

I'll probaly just call them when I get off today.
If you don’t get anywhere with Grainger, give Zeigler Ford a try. I bought 2 warranties from them, all online with no issues. At the time, if you paid in full, they were giving an extra $250 discount. Just had to use ‘PAYINFULL’ as a code during checkout.

Difference between genuine Ford ESP, is that it's accepted at any Ford dealership.
3rd party ESP will tell you, 'Take it anywhere', what they mean, 'Take it anywhere that accepts their coverage', which a lot of shops won't do due to fear of being left holding the bag.

The Grainger is a Ford warranty, not 3rd party.

Or at least it was when I bought mine from them.

Mine more than paid for itself.
Glad to hear that. Your case is why I said above that some people make out and some people just threw money away.

All good now, someone from Granger reached back out to me. It was just a glitch on the website I guess. When I clicked the payment button, instead of directing me to the payment screen, I got redirected back to the home screen. Just started over and all good now. :like:

If anyone's interested in an update here... After going back and forth between the dealer and Ford corporate for nearly a month the best offer they have given me is for Ford to cover $4,912.76 (and I would pay $7,369.15) on a new motor installed at the dealer. 2 year unlimited miles service part warranty. This is Ford's final offer.

I would've thought they'd at least cover half (50/50) with you. I guess something is better than nothing and they could've said you're on your own. When are they going to be doing the work?

I'm not trying to rub salt in the wound, more of a PSA, but this is why I'm all for getting extended warranties now. Something like this (while a freak incident) can cost you a lot of money because parts and labor are super expensive. I know many say "I'll put money aside" but really, how many can put $8K-$10K aside for a just in case moment?

I've put it aside for a proper rebuilt trasnsmission when the time comes. I don't want a "free" one when mine disintergrates... I want a "one and done replacement" with upgraded transmission internals that will last as long as my 4g Ranger has... at least a 200K miles.

My 60,000 warranty was something like 3,000 extra.
Way cheaper than an engine replacement.
Im fine financially. Not a lot of people are as rich as some the members here that can just toss down $14k on a new motor.

I bought a warranty, against my better judgement, and now wish I hadn't. I'm not going to use it if the transmission implodes. I want it fixed right the first time. Ford won't do that.

I can put down the $$, but I sincerely resent having to do it. Legalized theft. I'd rather pay someone else than give the $$ to Ford. I'm past rewarding bad business practices. It is now a matter of principle with me.

I bought mine from Flood Ford for $1,900 and it was 10/100K. Like you I'm fine financially too but it's just another insurance I carry like health, life, auto and home. It's just gambling on whether or not your upfront cost are going to payoff if you have a major problem. I've wasted more than that on dumb stuff in the past. lol

I'll admit this is the first time I've ever bought one and never gave it a thought before. Vehicles now are just too expensive unlike years ago and repairs and parts aren't getting any cheaper either. I don't see this (engine failure) as being a big concern and actually not one I even thought about. I was more concerned about the computers and the transmission when I bought mine.

My first truck was a ranger 20something years ago and my dad's bought 30 some Ford trucks for himself and his business... I think I'm done with Ford after this. I probably won't keep this thing very long after the new motor is in.

I don't trust Ford all that much to fix it right either. But depending on if/when it happens I'll let them fix it and then decide whether or not I'm going to keep it. I could always trade it on or sell it with a new transmission which I would think would add a little value or peace of mind to someone else. Basically I don't lose sleep over any of these things (trannys, engines, sensors) because they're uncontrollable and not worth my time or effort. Stuff happens and that's just life. 🙃

It seems to happen more in these newer autos! I don't spend sleepless nights over it, but I honestly resent Ford's business conduct and attitude. If I walk in to the service dept with a problem, I do not want to here "they all do it". And that is what I got. Not going back..life is too short to argue with them. I simply will take my business elsewhere.

Out of curiosity, did you get a quote from a reputable private garage for the engine swap? I doubt they would beat the $7369 on a new motor installed, but I wonder how far they would be from that quote.
