The one and ONLY thing I despise about this Ranger is that stupid ridiculous AUTO STOP crap. However comma, I understand based on what I saw yesterday on the news that car manufacturers will no longer be required to install that moronic crap in new vehicles. Doesn’t help me and my Ranger but I’m glad to see that go away.

There are simple ways to disable it. I used an old phone charger with the cord cut off plugged into the AC outlet.

You can simply unplug the battery maintenance plug (small two wire plug on battery terminal) and the auto stop disables. No codes, no error lights, no symptoms, you just keep running at a stop sign or light. The only curiosity I've had is when a software update loads. I had to plug it back in for it to complete. After it finished and the truck started, I unplugged again and no problems. I've had this plug off almost a year now.

I have the LED nightlight plugged into the rear outlet.

It's not bright at all so it doesn't distract you when driving at night.

Works great.

I also invested in a led night light and it has kept the ass off for 5 years now. :)

Corporate drone. Dilbert's world is alive & well.
I simply hit the ASS button after starting the truck.

Phew. Man. It is tough though I must admit. Big ass button. Can work up a sweat trying to press it. (Or as we say in the south, “Just mash the button!”)

Some days I’ll be heading to the garage to go somewhere and then I’ll change my mind. Just don’t have it in me to deal with that big ol’ difficult to press button.

I’m guessing the owners of damper equipped trucks would truly struggle with the effort of pressing that button. If you see a 5G owner with his arm in a sling you can bet it was from trying to disengage the ASS with the factory supplied button.

That is part of my pre flight ritual, start the truck, then immediately push the button to turn the a/s/s off.
